The room I was in was very small and faced a dirty wall and a chimney. It was DARK in the room. Based on my previouos experience, I just don't expect that kind of room in a Kimpton hotel. For a business traveler who is trying to charge various gadgets, very few accessible sockets. May be a better hotel for vacation.

The hotel is lovely and has character. The concierge staff was one of the most helpful and friendliest I've experienced. The cafe inside the hotel was also very good, both breakfast and dinner. My room was kept well and clean every day and the furnishings were tastefully done and cosy.

The Hotel Burnham was a very relaxing place to stay in Chicago in a great location near several "el" stops and Millenium Park. Very friendly and helpful staff. Downsides: 1) really old television, definitely time for this hotel to upgrade to flat screens 2) tiny exercise room (only 2 treadmills, one bike, one precor machine and one weight bench) which meant that during peak times in the morning guests had to wait to use the machines. 3) Hotel restaurant was closed on Labor Day which meant having to travel elsewhere for a nice brunch on that day.

The Hotel Burnham is located across the street from Macy's (the former Marshall Field's flagship store) and is on the subway line. It's also one block from the elevated tracks. In short, if you want to stay in downtown Chicago (the Loop), this is the place for you. Shoppers: If the downtown stores aren't enough, the Burnham is a short (15 minute) walk to the Michigan Ave "magnificent mile" or take a cab for a few bucks or the subway! The hotel is a beautiful, restored property with some great history. The rooms are nice sized, service good--it's everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

I chose the Burnham because I needed someplace convenient to the Orange Line from Midway that was upscale and fairly priced. My sister had stayed here a few years ago and liked it, so I decided to try. The hotel staff was welcoming, the room was small but very comfortable, the hotel itself is beautiful, and my excellent dinner at the hotel bar didn't break the bank. Definitely on the list for next time..

This hotel was located in the perfect spot for us. We were only minutes away from the Chicago River, the Red Line train stop and both the Chicago & Ford Theatres. Anywhere you would want to go, with in reason is within walking a mile distances (i.e. Michigan Ave. & Rush St.). If you want to go to a Cubs game, then you just need to jump on the Red Line and head towards Addison St. The hotel room was small, but very comfortable. This hotel probably had the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. A unique quality to this hotel, is that they still hand out actual room keys, and not just plastic cards. We thought that was a nice touch.

Stayed in a room with a King bed, and it was quite small. Also, a bit far from much of the main stores on the Mag. Mi. Not many places real close by to eat at for cheap, and no cont. breakfast at hotel. Took valet a long time to get my car when I needed it.

I was very pleased with the Hotel Burnham! I had read the novel "Devil in the White City" and was looking forward to my stay in a building designed by the famous architect who supervised the building of the Chicago World's Fair. We loved the decor of the room and the view. The Sunday brunch was a treat too! The staff was very accommodating and friendly too!

A weekend in Chicago was my Christmas gift to my 17 year old daughter. We attended "Wicked" and spent the night at Hotel Burnham. It was the perfect location; we were able to walk to dinner, the theater and shopping. It's a short cab ride to Union Station. This hotel has character! We loved the quaint rooms, the friendliness of the staff, and our brunch in the "Atwood Cafe" downstairs. The Starbucks coffee in the lobby in the ams was a nice touch. I would definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it to others.

First of all, the service was great and the staff was very nice. That was the good part. The hotel, however, was not all that impressive. I paid for a suite and the room was tiny. The price was definitely too much for the room size and I was immediately disappointmented. For the amount of money I paid for the room, I expected more. Also, I noticed the room together in a very quality manner. The door stand was loose, the table lamp was a bit wobbly, and the head board was not pieced together well and it looked like it was going to fall right off the wall. For a hotel that markets itslef to be a very elegant and classy hotel, I was not impressed and for the amount of money I paid, I think I could have stay somewhere else nicer.

This hotel is a great location for those with theatre tickets or wanting to be in the heart of a very good shopping and restaurant area. The hotel has a wine tasting every evening from 5-6pm. They offer a red and a white wine. Room service was excellent as was their restaurant the Atwood Cafe. Only negatives were: the small lobby area which also serves as the waiting area for the restaurant. Hard to enjoy the wine tasting. There is no in-room coffee maker. Personally, I like waking up and enjoying a quick cup of coffee to get me mov'in. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.

I had a very pleaseant stay here recently. The hotel has a super location and the service was top notch. All facilities were as advertised and in excellent order. The only downside was that the building directly across the road is having major construction work and they worked overnight on one occasion during my stay causing some noise disturbance. it looks as though the building project is nearing completion and so this shouldn't cause disruption for too many weeks more. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Hotel Burnham was great value in perfect location when rates were reduced by half because of nearby construction. Room was small, but nicely decorated and clean. Construction noise was dull and constant compared to usual city traffic including infrequent sirens. I did not need ear plugs to sleep, but packed them just in case. Good opportunity to stay in a historic hotel for significantly reduced rates.

We heard that the rooms were verynice, but also small at this hotel. I think our room was smaller than most. We were put in room 309 which was outfitted for a handicapped person. Thus, the bathroom was huge to accomodate a wheelchair and instead of a tub, there was an open shower with a handicapped-accessible seat. I think the bathroom took up 40% of the hotel room. Check if you can get a non-handicap room when you arrive.

I may just not have superior knowledge of what constitutes a decent sized room, but for my liking the room was very cramped. Once our luggage was placed in the room, we were practically tripping over one another. Service was pleasing and house keeping did a very nice job. The view was perfect for my first visit to Chicago right outside our window was the Chicago Theater sign. It was not a terrible stay by any means but i would have enjoyed more space for the price i payed.

The hotel staff was terrific. Check in and check out were easy. The concierage had great tips for sites to see and places to eat. They made a difficult reservation for us. The bellman was always courteous, as well as the rest of the staff. Our room was small, but we didn't intend to spend much time in it anyway. Elevators were small and sometimes we had to wait a few minutes, but that's an old hotel, and the atmosphere and personal attention made up for it. The location was great for us - easy to get to the "L" and all attractions - near Millenium Park and across the street from Macy's. Just around the corner were several great restaurants. Lots of construction nearby, but that's what happens in cities in the summer, so we didn't mind. We will definitely consider the Hotel Burnham on our next trip to Chicago and look for Kimpton Hotels in other cities.

Nearly everything about my stay at the Burnham was perfect. The only bad part was my internet connection. They have a broadband plug as well as wireless connection that just didn't work. I was charged 10$ for the connection and it worked exactly one day. The rest of my four night stay was spent on the phone with the internet support people (who are not in house) trying to fix the problem. Overall, I would defintely go back to the Burnham. Everything else was great!

My fiance and I stayed here as an engagement present from my parents. The moment we checked in (between 5-6pm), the concierge gave us each a glass of wine, a definite treat after travelling several hours on plane. We stayed in a suite on the third floor and were immediately struck by the view; we could see the "Chicago" sign that's proudly shown in the beginning of the show, "Perfect Strangers." Although the construction got a little loud at night, the location more than made up for this hindrance and I would gladly, and hopefully, stay there again.

The hotel was fine, especially for the price we paid. There is construction going on across the street 24 hours a day. If you have a room on the street side it is very noisy all the time. Not a relaxing experience. Sometimes all but one lane is closed in front of the building. My son had to drive up onto the sidewalk to check in. There was no one there to help him. The hotel is not well marked and very hard to find under those circumstances. The Atwood Cafe in the hotel is a great place to eat.
