Hotel Burnham, a Kimpton Hotel - Chicago

Couldn't ask for a better location for touring or a friendlier staff. Complimentary wine in the afternoon is a nice touch. Rooms are pleasant and well laid out, but starting to show their age slightly.

If you can get by with a smaller than normal room, this is an excellent hotel. It's located right off of State St near Millennium Park which presents some foot traffic problems if you're trying to get somewhere quickly. Otherwise it really is a perfect location. Great location near trains, the only thing I did not like about The loop is everything closes early. We had a great experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Really enjoyed our stay. Staff was great. This is a historic hotel that has modern amentities and is very well maintained. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Location is very convenient to train lines to airports and for walking to all attractions around the City. It was truly a unique experience staying at Burnham Chicago. Unfortunately, we stayed only for two nights; nevertheless, they were remarkable. The room was clean and cozy, albeit a bit small. The bed was comfortable (the mattress was soft, but not too soft) and the room had very nice glass window that almost runs from floor to ceiling (which is considerably […] high compared to other hotels in the same category). What I found a bit discomforting was the amount of lighting - there were no light sources in the bed area except for the desk and nightstand lamps. The staff were very decent, helpful and professional - but neither genuinely, nor artificially warm. The hotel is located in the heart of the theater district and very close to the CTA and the millenium park. On weekends, the theater district is not very interesting during the day time (we had a hard time trying to find a good place for brunch, and finally we had to resort to a restaurant on Michigan ave). The staff was friendly and very capable at the hotel, and definitely a reason to come back. The rooms were well appointed but small. It is not a plush place to stay, but a cozy one.

There are so many good things about this place -- yes there are the usual creature comforts, but also the historical beauty, the elegant urban hustle-bustle, and the friendliness of every staff person I met. You pay 45 a night for parking at the hotel, and they hold fifty bucks from your card for a few days after. Other than that a great stay!

From the location, to the amenities, to the staff, my stay at the Burnham was a wonderful experience. The building itself was like a step back in history, with a very 1920's decor. As a hotel brand marketed to women, they had the best hairdryer EVER in the guest rooms, I'm going to buy the same one for myself.

This is a terrific hotel with an interesting history. A dramatic renovation of this old building has given rise to an absolutely modern hotel that boasts some incredibly rich character. As can be expected of a Kimpton hotel, the staff and service was welcoming, attentive and responsive. We did not try the hotel's restaurant, so we cannot comment on […] that. Hotel Burnham has EXCELLENT service and it is conveniently located. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful location. Terrific view. Love the robes. Skimpy on towels. Highly recommend. Good value.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Burnham. The rooms were larger than I imagined in downtown Chicago and that staff was very helpful. The location was close to both the red, orange and browns lines which we used often.

For our first anniversy my husband and I stayed at the hotel Burnham and could not have asked for better service. We were there two nights and by the end of the first day the staff knew our names and what we had done that day, it was great. They even sent up a bottle of wine for us to celebrate with. The location was about 2 blocks east of millienum […] park and right in the heart of shopping. It was an easy walk to the L, although we never used it. We were able to easily walk to the art muesum, and Navy pier. Also, very close to the theather district. The rooms were small, but we were in a large city so I kind of expected that. The did well decorating in that space. My husband did not like the bed, which is why I gave comfort of the room a 3. Overall the staff was very helpful, the room was beautiful and the area was GREAT. Online I was uncertain about the location of this hotel, but once in Chicago it was right in the middle of everything!! We were directly across from a mall (and had a view of Anthropologie). The Willis Tower (sears tower) was just a quick walk, as was Millenium Park. The staff was wonderful especially the front desk. I called ahead to ask how much a […] cab from the airport was, and the estimation was dead-on! The room was extremely clean (and I am a neat freak) and the bed was comfortable. Boutique hotel was refurbished with a very friendly and helpful staff.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Hotel Burnham. The staff was awesome, and very accommodating of our early arrival ahead of typical check-in times. The hotel itself is beautiful and very clean. The location was great, with easy access to public transportation; we were never short of something to do in our area, and Millenium Park was only a short […] walk away. Rooms are small. I wanted to share with my teenager but there wasn't enough room. Otherwise great. Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to everything.

The only complaint was the waiter in the breakfast room, SLOW, unorganized. Poured my own coffee after day, no complaints there. The reception staff were excellent, very helpful. Pleasure to stay there.

The Atwood was a marvellous find on our first night--we had flown in from Australia and needed good safe food after 30 hours of travel, and when we said that, we were helped. The second meal, we got more adventurous, and it paid off. The staff went the extra mile for us in many ways. There was a bit of a mix-up over the boarding passes, but I suspect […] that was as much the fault of American Airlines as it was of the clerk who failed to call in a full 24 hours ahead--and it all got ironed out at the airport. I think it's one failing is that it doesn''t cater for the needs of tourists from overseas, but you would need to be a seasoned traveller to notice, and seasoned travellers know rthe work-arounds. I would only rate them 8/10 in that area. Definitely a safe and easy place to be and the starting place that I will recommend to my friends and leave my enemies ignorant of. It was a clean, neat and comfortable hotel with attentive staff. Location was good. Wine reception very enjoyable as was the coffee bar in am. Would stay again when downtown.

I loved the location. The hotel itself was a bit too 'nostalgic' for me...I don't like carrying keys with me (this hotel does not use the traditional card access to rooms). Rooms are very small, but that in itself isn't such a problem if you're just in and out, and the bed is very comfortable. One particular yet awkward issue was th fact that the toilet […] doesn't flush well....perhaps low pressure...it's an annoyance I'd rather not worry about. Leia mais

Real keys! They give you real keys to your room; and it was a very nicely appointed room. The Burnham is in an old office building, which lends charm and a classic vibe to your stay. I wish that they would have had a better area for pets to defecate. Walking to an alley or taking a cab to bicentennial park did not seem very pet friendly!

I LOVED THIS HOTEL!! I've always heard great things about Kimpton but i hadn't stayed in one until now. From now on I will seek out Kimpton hotels when i travel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, so polite, couldn't have asked for anything better. They're dog friendly, and although i didn't have my dog with me this time i would love to bring […] him next time. They allow employees to bring dogs to work sometimes and Solomon was hanging out in the lobby while we were there, made me not miss my little one so much! The hotel was always very clean, our room straightened nicely when we got back from being out for the day, REALLY comfy beds, great view, honestly there isn't a bad thing to say. The business center is in the basement and you just stand at a computer, that wasn't what i expected but it was fine. I couldn't get the printer to work but I'm sure they would have helped me if i had asked, I was just too lazy and what I wanted to print wasn't important, but the printer should definitely work for guests. Kimpton Hotels are the best for a unique, boutique hotel experience. We've never gone wrong at any Kimpton property and the Hotel Burnham was no exception. In fact, it probably had the best service of all the Kimpton Hotels we've stayed in, and that says a lot. The hotel is historic and the architecture extremely interesting. The Atwood Cafe had fantastic […] food, the servers and Executive Chef all extremely professional and friendly. The evening wine reception is always nice at Kimpton Hotels, and the Hotel Burnham featured appearances by the Atwood Cafe manager and Executive Chef with complimentary appetizers (warm tempura apricots with raspberry sauce, nicely complemented with a Shiraz-Cabernet). One example of how personal the service gets: On check-in, I mentioned to the front desk that we had stayed at the Kimpton Harbor Court the week before and they had cookies and milk at 9:30 PM. They told me they didn't have that event, but would recommend it to the hotel manager for the future. We had dinner in the Atwood Cafe and on return to our room waiting for us was......a plate of cookies and a pitcher of cold milk! This was typical of the service level here, with EVERY employee friendly and accomodating. Even the housekeeping staff person left us a long personal note. Great hote! Leia mais

The Hotel has a unique decor, which I enjoyed. However the bathroom was very very small and inconvenient. I'm short and small, and I found it hard to deal with. No place to put your toiletry's or hair brush or hair dryer. Worst bathroom I have ever encountered, and I travel for business half the year. Go somewhere else.

Clean, upscale hotel, with friendly staff. Less than a five minute walk to all major lines (blue, red, etc.).

I have never had a bad stay at a Kimpton Hotel and the Hotel Burnham did not disappoint. Our stay was very enjoyable. Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean, great location, good restaurant (the Atwood Cafe), and beautiful restoration of a historical building. We were very pleased. We will return.

You won't be disappointed by this historic hotel located in Chicago's Loop area. This hotel combines the beauty of an historic building with modern comforts, and is convenient to business and leisure activities.

The Hotel Burnham is in the perfect location in downtown Chicago for shopping, visiting the museum, seeing a show, and enjoying eating out. The hotel has a lot of character. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a great view of State Street from the bay window, The room was very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Burnham is close to the theaters, has an outstanding and friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Definitely a place we would stay again.

We stayed in the deluxe queen suite and there was nothing deluxe about it! The room was tiny! The tv was blocked by the lamp on the desk and there was no walking space in the room. It was very cramped and very disappointing for the amount of money spent on the room. The elevators were cramped, slow and one broke over the weekend.

I loved this hotel for it's location, immediately across the street from the huge downtown Macy's and in walking distance to the theatres. It has a lovely, old, small hotel flavor and I would stay again and again!!

This is a sensational hotel, with marvelous service from a caring staff at the front desk and in the Burnham's superb restaurant, The Atwood Cafe. A flight cancellation forced us to stay an extra night -- which was no hardship at all, considering what a great time we had this weekend.

A classic old hotel that still has a lot of charm and is kept up well. The Atwood Cafe is an excellent place to esat any meal.
