It is true that the rooms are tiny, but the hotel is perfect for a NYC visit if you are on the go. The staff is polite and the rooms and bathrooms are clean and the decor is tasteful. The location is convenient to metro, dining and attractions.

The Belnord is a small hotel very close to Central Park and only a block from the subway, so the location is great. There was no street noise since it is tucked away in a quieter neighborhood, but if someone has a conversation in the hallway, you will hear every. single. word. The rooms at the Belnord are absolutely tiny. The beds are actually shorter than a normal bed so they can fit in the space. There is no desk, dresser, closet, or floor space and the room has a slight cigarette odor from the days when smoking was permitted. However, it was cheap and safe.

Although the room was the size of a state room on a cruise ship, It was surprisingly comfortable, had hardwood floors, plasma tv, and very clean. It was very close to the subway and the restaurants and neighborhood were great. You can't beat the price through hotels.com! Its a little cute boutique type hotel. Very Cozy!

If you're on a budget and need a place to rest your head, this place is great. The rooms are small, yes, but not uncomfortable. The staff was friendly and it was perfect for what I needed: 2 nights in the city with no muss no fuss. I'll be back in New York in October, I will definitely be staying there again.

I truly enjoyed this nice little hotel. I have stayed in the city before and needed a hotel quality stay at a hostel price. I wasn't expecting much for so cheap, but my niece and I were pleasantly surpised. The rooms are small indeed. However, they were clean and comfortable. We had our own private bath which was stocked with toiletries and essentials. The hotel staff was awesome!!!! They were friendly and when I needed extra towels, they were hand delivered to my door. There is also a nice little office area for doing business and checking email. The coffee wasn't bad either. Each day I had starbucks quality coffee for McValue menu prices. The neighborhood was quiet, but still close to everywhere you want to be. Overall, I got way more than I expected, and I will stay again!!!!!

The hotel was fairly priced and in a great location so if you're only looking for a "hostel" or some place to sleep ... this is a great place. If you're looking for a typical hotel room that is spacious ... this is NOT the place. As an fyi. The rooms are so tiny that standing a king-sized bed couldn't even fit into the room (width-wise).

Even smaller than we thought possible. But it would have been ok, if it had not been hot. The air would not come on and the window would only open 4 inches. I suppose no one thinks a hotel room could be hot in November.

The Belnord we stayed at was very different from what a lot of reviews led us to expect. This is particularly true of older reviews for the place. The first major issue many of these reviewers raised was the size of the rooms. Yes, they are small. Yes, you are in Manhattan, not Topeka. If you want a large room, you will pay dearly for it. My wife and I found the room to be totally adequate in size. It had a dresser, a bedside table, a closet and a private bathroom. We never had an issue with the space. Second, bed bugs. We did not see a single bug during our entire stay, nor did we have any bites. Moreover, the hotel is immaculately clean. I am on the compulsive side of cleanliness, and I was totally happy with the job the maid service did. Finally, many reviewers complained about rude employees at the front desk. We experienced quite the opposite--the employees were friendly and helpful. In fact, they may have been some of the most friendly people we encountered in a city that seems to prize itself on rude service. In any case, the Belnord was a great deal. The proximity to the 1 subway line makes accessing the entire city a breeze. The only complaint I would make is that the bed wasn't terribly comfortable. I am quite tall, so the fact that it was a double didn't help either. However, we exhausted ourself seeing the city every day, so sleeping wasn't an issue. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed there after game six of the world series. Perfect place if you are not planning on staying in the room for anything other than sleeping. The rooms are small, but very, very clean. Front desk called a taxi - and it was there almost immediately. Very close to a subway stop and the East - West cross town bus. On a quite strett. I would stay again when visting NYC. Only negative was noise from other guests in the hallway

If your idea of traveling to New York is hanging out at the hotel bar or swimming pool with 24 hour room service, then this hotel is not for you. (Neither is New York City, for that matter.) The room was exactly as advertised and perfectly located for traveling around the city. By subway it is 15 minutes from Greenwich Village, 5 from Lincoln Center, 10 from Rockefeller Center and Museums. It is perfect for someone who wants to spend their time visiting the City that Never Sleeps.

Wonderful hotel for New York standards. If you've never been to NYC, listen very closely: hotel rooms in ANY hotel are small. Therefore, don't pay much attention to the other reviews complaining about space. The size is typical for NYC. Great location right next to a Metro stop and close to Central Park. Close bakeries, coffee shops, and shopping. Nice, safe, neighborhood. Can't wait to stay there again!

I was prepared about the room being small. But I had expected at least a writing desk and a chair. I hoped to do some work on my laptop. Working while siting on the bed without good backsupport is not exactly comfortable. People coming back late and talking while walking in corridor was disturbing. Room is good if you have no laggage at all.

This was a good hotel for the price. The location was good (close to subway and a starbucks). The room was small but very clean and had a TV and a bathroom, the room was cleaned every day very quickly. The staff was friendly. They had a business center with computer and printer which was great b/c I needed to print out some tickets I left at home. Great hotel, would stay there again.

At first we were a bit leary after reading some of the reviews. However, we found that the hotel had been totally gutted and redone about six months ago and it showed. All the bathroom fixtures, bed, decorations, wood floors, electrial system were new. The hotel was only a block from the subway and very quiet. The size of the room was tiny even by New York standards. We had a double bed, one small bedside table, 2 bedside wall lights and that was it. The closet and bath were also tiny, but it was immaculate.

The room is tiny, but is spotless and comfortable. My only complaint was that the hotel is overheated, leading the room to be uncomfortably hot at night. The hotel is 2 blocks from Central Park and within a block from the subway entrance. It is in a quaint residential neighborhood, with good restaurants and stores within walking distance. If you don't mind a tiny room and a full size bed, this is worth the price.

the hotel was in a great location and it was clean and all but the room was the size of a closet--no joke. It was maybe 12 by 12, there was one foot between the wall and the bed on one side and maybe 2 feet on the other with 3 feet rounding out the sides. All the room had in it was a bed, a small table, and a flat screen tv on wall that didn't even get the most basic cable channels ( CNN,TNT etc.. ). If all you do here is come in and sleep, shower and leave then it's very nice.

I read that the rooms were small so I was expecting it. But they are really small compared to what most American travelers are used to. I shared a room with my wife so it was a little tighter than if I were alone but we managed. The room and facility are very clean and in good shape. If you don;t need to spend a lot of time in your room, this is a great alternative. Loved the upper west side stay - nice neighborhood and plenty of places to shop and eat.

Imagine the smallest hotel room. Then think smaller. The room was the size of a king size bed with a queen in the middle. The tub was the depth of a shallow fountain, but the water was hot and had good pressure. The sink was small, but any bigger and you'd never make it into the bathroom. No place to put your suitcase. If there are two of you, we are talking tight. Overal, a modern feel, with wood floors, and livable if you only use the room for sleep. But that is the next issue. Very noisy. Can hear every door open and close. I feel lucky that there wasn't a lot of traffic or it would have been unbearable. TV was ok, but no cable channels. Good location, a ten minute wall to Central Park, 30 minutes to the Museum of Natural History. Staff was friendly and courteous. Bottom line, there are better, but you have to pay more. I'd go again given price, location, and cleanliness.

I was pretty unhappy with the overall experience. Not only was the room tiny tiny (like, a foot of space between the bed and the outer wall, and then just enough room for the front and bathroom doors to open without hitting the bed), but the walls were paper-thin, compounded by the fact that there was a telephone in the hallway that inexplicably rang throughout the night, waking us up every 30m-1hr. The room was clean, the staff wasn't unfriendly, and the hotel itself outside of the room was nicely done up, but that didn't make up for the very cramped space and disruption of a night's sleep.

This place was a TERRIBLE value. For what we paid, a jail cell would have been nicer. The TV's didn't have cable, the floors were hardwood which was nice, but the paper thin walls would let you hear someone walking in the room next to you. The doors didn't lock when they were shut, my door cracked open twice without me even putting in my key card. There was no breakfast provided as well. I feel like I can stay somewhere outside of NYC for roughly a 4th of what I paid and could get something nicer than this place. So if you're looking to waste your money on a small room with paper thin walls and no cable tv or breakfast... this is your place!

First off, there is no parking space out front, so you will be driving forever just to find a place to park. Then youll be ticketed for parking there. Then you check in, and they wont even bother looking at you until you say something to them. Youll finally check into your room and it feels like a jail cell in the NY correctional, you can touch the walls with both your arms out. There is a bathroom in there which is like using a cardboard cause you can barely move in there. The water barely drains in the tub so youre standing in a pool of water, the whole time you shower. Then when you go to sleep, you hear people having sex next door. And look out the window and youll see people in the next apartment naked right by the window. this place is nasty.

After reading all the reviews, the hotel lived up to expectations. Tiny hallways that zigzag on the way to the room. The rooms are recently refurbished. I had a very small room with a oversized bed for the room. No closet, no draws, no clock, and no blanket on the bed. The room and bathroom were clean and neat. They provide soap and shampoo. The towels are a bit small but clean and plentiful. Flat screen TV was functional but dont expect any premium programming. Make sure you ask for the web key for the free Internet connection when checking in as it will save you time. Quiet block in a residential neighborhood one block from the #1 subway line, providing easy access to the rest of NYC. Plenty of neighborhood restaurants, banks, and grocery stores. Perfect if you are traveling on a tight budget and are not looking for hotel luxuries.
