great location and close to subway but a very small room. We had a room with a queen size bed, but there was barely space to move around. Room and bathroom were cleaned every day, no bugs

Reminds me of a Paddington Station B and B. Very compact rooms. Not even room for one chair, just a bed. Two people have to watch their elbows. But inexpensive, good neighborhood, and clean. If you just want a place to sleep, a good choice.

The room was tiny but OK for our one night stay. Near to subway station. If staying in NYC for more one or two nights I'd look for something bigger and closer to midtown.

We stayed at Hotel Belnord for a week. The location was great, close to subway, on a calm and quiet street on the upper west side. The Hotel Service was great and the staff was friendly. when we checked in, the clerks atitute was not friendly, we thought that they could not smile at all. and we lost our food(cooked meat, fish and beans) in hotel's refrigerator in the day before check-out, make us very unpleasent.

The location of this hotel was perfect for me (Broadway & W 87th Street). The subway station is across the street on Broadway easy to get to Times Square or go North to Columbia University. Very quite neighborhood and to get other room at the price I paid I would have had to share a bathroom at the end of the hall. This hotel is one of the best kept secrets on the UWS. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and location is convenient.

Good: The hotel was very clean and in a very convenient location. It's one street from a subway stop and a couple streets away from Central Park. Bad: The hotel room is tiny. Awful. Chintzy and cheap. The room was so small the door was obstructed by the full size bed and you could not use the toilet unless you were sitting sideways. There was no blanket on the bed, only a sheet and an old, smelly duvet. Couldn't turn the heat on due to the loud clanking noise it made. Walls were paper thin. Excellent location with many eating places. Convenient to everywhere, especially the nearby Central Park. The staff are helpful but a bit cool unleass the senior staff but he is not all time there.

While the room was large enough for only one person, the bathroom was adequate, both being very clean and updated. The biggest problem is the lack of any noise inhibitors. There was no carpeting in the room or hallway, and any sound like a door closing or voices in the hallway seemed loud. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Wonderful Upper West Side location close to subway, dining, and parks. Recently remodeled and spotless rooms are nonetheless tiny, and mine had an immediate view of the adjacent cement wall. Still for economy and location the Belnord was unbeatable and I'll stay there again next time I'm in NYC.

Although the room was compact, it was perfect for sleeping in and getting ready in the morning. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was large enough and also very clean. If you do not plan on spending a lot of time in the room, and do not need a dresser or coffee pot, then this would be a good choice for a stay.

My stay was not great because the walls are paper thin and there are hard wood floors throughout so early in the morning I could hear people loud and clear walking down the hallway. There were phones ringing, alarms going off and maids talking in the hallway. I didn't get any sleep.

The room and bathroom were small but clean and functional. The hotel is well situated near underground stations and Central Park, just across is the Guggenheim and Museum mile, all doable on foot. Not too good. No tinier room could exist or it would be a closet. No coffee in the room or even in the hotel. Definitely a budget choice but then it was expensive.

We stayd at this hotel 7 nights and we can't complain about anything. Rooms were nice, clean and very quiet. Location is a bit too far but train is close. I would deffinitelly choose this place again. Rooms are very small but that's NY.

The room is like a capsule hotel in Japan. There is no room to step around your luggage even standing up. The neighborhood is great but the rooms are substandard.

Being close to Central Park the Belnord was in a good location for those intending to run, cycle or use the Park for recreation. The subway was quite close by which gives access to the other highlights of the city. Clean, convenient, good location. Had some trouble with internet service on the last day.

The rooms are very clean - which is a comfort these days- The Beds firm- (but not to) One thing to be wary of though we stayed on the second floor and around midnight the heater or something went on in the basement - and the whole room vibrated- loud motor like sound - Yikes! I went downstairs to the counter folks (who were very nice by the way ) one […] guy said that was normal. I hope not! They moved us to another room, so everything worked out. For very short stays, hotel is quite convenient and well priced for Manhattan.

For what we paid this is an excellent upper west side location. The rooms was small but perfectly adequate for our 3 nights stay as we spent very little time in the hotel other then to sleep. The hotel has wifi which was useful in planning trips so pretty much had everything we need and try and get a corner room as the walls are kind of thin. Central […] Park is no more then a 5-10 minute stroll and there are lots of nice cafe's and places to eat as well as a Starbucks and dunkin donuts for those with more basic requirements. The worst room ever. The full size bed took up 95% of the room. I could hardy move around the bed. They didn't even provide a blanket. They only provided two very thin headache causing pillows. SO LOUD! if anyone came in or out of a room, the sound of the opening/closing doors was so loud it reverberated and shook me to the bone. The rooms are the smallest I have seen and i stay in NYC all the time!! No closet or room for your luggage.

First time I stayed in a hotel room that was not large enough to accommodate nothing else besides the bed, not even a chair! Expensive and uncomfortable. Not recommended.

A very acceptable, clean, room in a lovely neighborhood on the Upper West Side of NYC. Convenient to the trains, a fun neighborhood, very comfortable. The room was very small, but that's par for the course in NYC for the price paid.

It was very noisy.

I have stayed in NY many times, but this was probably my worst experience. Over priced, extremely small, cold water showers & a TV that was snowy. It was clean and it was in a good upper west side neighborhood but that's about it.

Tiny room was pristine. Not a single smudge, stain, bit of dust. The quality of the bed and bedding left much to be desired but it was a non issue for a very brief stay. Doors let in all the sound from the tight corridors but was quiet at night. There is no bell service or restaurant but the desk staff was friendly and efficient.

Way too expensive for the tiniest hotel room I've ever rented. If you pushed the door key in too far you would break the window. I thought there wasn't enough room to open my suitcase in the room so I would open it in the hallway but the hallway is too narrow. Great location but way overpriced.

I had a reasonbly good experience in the Belnord Hotel. I went there for two nights as part of a week's plan to work and experience New York. The hotel was in an excellent location, adjacent to public transportation, food choices and a Post Office. It was easy to get to a supermarket to purchase food items and get to shopping and the theatre. While […] the room was small and the desk and chair not as comfortable to work at as I might have liked, the hotel staff was competent and very conscientious about iInternet security (the passcode changed daily). I noticed that a number of Europeans stayed there and I know that they are always looking for quality at a value price. I did experience some noise from my neighbors one evening but it was fairly limited as an unpleasant experience. Good refurbisment and cleaness but all spoilt by rabit hutch size of the rooms.

Rooms super small but clean. Definitely not worth the price you pay. Communal coffee machine broken (nothing in the rooms, not that there was any room whatsoever). House-keeping friendly but scarce. Reception desk more concerned watching a movie (pretty much says it all) than making us feel assured that our bags were safe downstairs in a communal luggage […] room without any ID tags upon which to claim your bags. my favorite place to stay

I lived in NYC for many years, mostly the Upper West Side where this hotel is located -- the location couldn't be better. My room is the smallest I have ever stayed in, but I'm not complaining because there is no street noise since I'm on the back side of the hotel (huge for NYC), and blackout drapes. The only negative is that the walls are thin and […] I've been woken up a few times in the mornings by noise in the hall. But I went back to sleep, so not a big deal. This is a bargain, by NYC standards, one block from the subway. This is one of the best, quietest and safest neighborhoods in Manhattan, which to me is way more important than the size of the room. Belnord is well located close to Broadway in Upper West Side. Also close to the subways and Central Park. The main problem with our room was that there was no closet! During a six nights-stay this is a real problem.

Warning: DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Tiny rooms, crappy soap and shampoo, rotten pillows, used sheets,not really secure, $2.00 to print a boarding pass (10 minutes online).... There are other places to stay for less> DJW

Great location close to subway. Staff helpful. Room clean but with no additional amenities such as coffee in room. Free street parking sometimes available. Parking lot convenient, but staff not very helpful.

In the heart of the upper west side of Manhattan, this conveniently located hotel offers a safe, clean place to sleep. It is not fancy and the staff aren't friendly, but at least you won't be bit by bed bugs, as of September 2011.

If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel in a decent area, this one is worth checking out. The rooms are small, but clean. So as long as you don;t need a lot of space, or plan to spend a lot of time in your room, I would recommend the Belnord.

I needed a cheap hotel room due to a change in my plans and the Belnord afforded me a room in a very nice neighborhood conveniently located to a subway a block away. I knew the room would be small from the reviews so I knew what to expect. It was a great value and I would stay again in a NY minute.
