I have stayed at the Granvia Kyoto on two trips. The location is terrific, with JR trains and Kyoto subways virtually at the door. While some rooms are above the tracks, soundproofing is excellent. It is an elegant hotel, everything about it is superior, and the service is always great.

Although the hotel is very easy to find when you get off the train i was very dissapointed with the standard of the room and the noise from the station nearly drove me insane. I am sure there must be better value in Kyoto

This hotel is fine as a place to spend the night, and the location is convenient to busses and trains. But it is an enormous hotel (95 rooms per floor), so don't expect any personal service of any kind. Food at breakfast is not good.

This was a modern hotel in the modern and beautiful train station in Kyoto. The hotel had every amenity and was clean and comfortable. We especially liked the bathroom which contained a separate shower and bath. Our only complaint was that there were few nice restaurants near the train station.

Not a budget hotel, but if you want a a super central location and a place to actually look forward to coming back to in the evening, instead of just a place to crash, this is a good choice. Lots of food options in the station mall downstairs. Staff was uniformly helpful.

Location of this hotel can't be better. Right next to all the train stations, bus stops. This is very important especially you only have a short time to stay in Kyoto. Hotel is very very big and unfortunately they only have 2 elevators. So depends on the location of your room, you may need to walk a long way to the elevator. As for the restaurants in the hotel, I have only tried the Italian one. It is good.

We were giddy with the size of the hotel room. It was average sized by American standards, Hyatt, Sheraton,... but compared to the other rooms we had elsewhere in Japan it was HUGE. The location was great if you like lively surroundings. If you are looking for a quiet inn setting, go someplace else. We would definitely stay here next time.

Avaliado por Michelle de San Francisco em Jun 27, 2008
Great Hotel! Before arriving I wasn't wild about the Hotel's location-at the Train station. But all is all it worked out Great. Most of the other hotels that aren't near the train station turned out to be pretty remote. We were able to walk a good amount around the area; but most of all the Train station has a lot of offer in terms of food and shopping. There are a couple malls attached/underground and lots of food options. Cabs to the Gion (historic Geisha) quarter were about $20US, or you can easily take the subway. One note: The Gion Corner Geisha show really isn't worth the $30US. The Kyoto Handicraft center had a brochere for something else if you're interested, I just can't remember the name of that program.

Were staying in May 2008, room is not too small as we were expecting from reading reviews. Had a great view of the city and mountains (18th floor). Bathroom is small, but clean, rasors, hair brush and toothbrushes are provided, along with robes. A lot of food spots around and inside the Kyoto station. Very convenient for day trips travel to Nara, Hiroshima, etc.

After having spent quite some time searching for a good hotel in Kyoto I settled on the Granvia because it located in the station and as I was travelling by train this seemed convenient. However, I was really impressed by the hotel and it's unlike any hotel attached to a station that I've stayed in before. The service was excellent, the rooms are very comfortable and clean with all the latest equipment. And to top that the station is an amazing piece of architecture itself. I rate this hotel very highly

Avaliado por Amanda de New York em Mai 29, 2008
This is a great, western-style hotel, located literally above the train station in Kyoto. It's very convenient if you have a Rail Pass and are coming and going by train. The subway has a stop here as well, so it's easy to get around the city. Another plus is that the rail station is full of restaurants of all kinds, so it it's raining or you just don't feel up to going out to dinner, you have plenty of options in addition to the numerous restaurants in the hotel (which looked good but are pricey). The only drawback is the size of the hotel, it's huge! We had a long walk from the elevator to our room and the lobby was always packed with people. Mot really a problem, but there are smaller, quieter hotels in the city which some may prefer.

This hotel was a great choice after a long day of travel from the United States, as we were able to take the standard limosine bus from the airport in Osaka to the bus station in Kyoto, which is where the hotel is located. We had been traveling for nearly 24 hours, and the Hotel Granvia, with its welcoming staff, beautiful lobby, and comfortable rooms, was the perfect remedy for our exhaustion.

Felt that the Granvia Kyoto had great service and wonderfully located. Disliked having to carry heavy luggage through long walkway and/or using escalator to get to lobby. Elevator to get to room though and someone did help us carry luggage down the escalator when we left. Location in station was convenient for getting around the city, shopping and eating within the station.

This is a beautiful hotel staffed by exemplary people. The rooms are comfortable, with every thinkable amenity, and every member of the staff we dealt with was cheerful and helpful above and beyond the call of their job description. The location - attached to the central hub of Kyoto Station with easy access to trains, buses, and taxis - could not possibly be better. Our only complaints were with the lounge and bar - the drinks we had weren't very good, and we felt they were highly overpriced. However, considering the quality of the rest of the Hotel Granvia, we almost feel nitpicky complaining about anything at all. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful public spaces and comfortable, relaxing rooms in a facility of over 500 rooms. Beautifully maintained and flawlessly operated, but there was little room to use a laptop or do paper work in our mid sized double room due to minimal desk space. Free tea, no free coffee. There are several upscale restaurants in the hotel itself, as well as dozens of places to shop and eat at every price level in the integrated open Borg Cube-like mall and train station. In addition, the basement of the associated department store has a ready to eat food emporium and a supermarket. This mall, of which the hotel is a component, is in itself an architectual wonder. The location also provides convenient access to every form of transportation in Kyoto.

Hotel Granvia is excellent!!!! Right at the train station, you do not need to travel far after taking the bullet train into kyoto to your hotel. Right outside, there is the bus station that takes you to all the sightsees in kyoto! And the tourist information office is right outside the hotel. Of the four hotels we stayed at on this trip, this one was the best. The service was excellent, hotel staff helpful and courteous, accessibility to stores and sightseeing attractions excellent (right by my favorite temple!). It was right off the JR station which made it accessible to other destinations, but enough off the way we didn't get a lot of noise, although there was some. We did not eat at the hotel, because the prices seemed steep, but there were so many restaurants in the station area the convenience was the same as eating in the hotel.

Location was great and convenient. Staff very helpful and spoke excellent english. Would recommend this hotel to everyone going to Japan. This hotel is located right at the Kyoto main train station, so finding it after a day of travelling is quite easy. The staff was amazingly helpful and many spoke at least a little English. If you're planning on seeing Kyoto during your stay, the hotel is not very close to most of the sightseeing locations, however, so expect to take the local subway (can't use your JR train pass if you have one), a cab, or walk. They have a good breakfast buffet ($20), so get the hotel package with breakfast included if you can.
