Great location. Upscale 4-star quality. Clean room / as expected. Cons: Parking is available on-site, but pretty expensive. Internet access at the hotel was also quite pricey, but found many internet cafe's within 1 block. No swimming pool.

This hotel exceeding my expectations. For the price we paid, it was well worth it. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance to everything. There are so many restaurants, shopping, and cafes around the hotel. Bus stops are located nearby so you can just hop on to get around. The service was great. We arrived early in the morning, exhausted from our 14 hour flight and asked to check in early. Although a room was not immediately ready, within a few hours, we were able to check in early. Another highlight was that we didn't have any trouble storing some of our luggage at concierge while we travelled to surrounding cities before heading back to Sydney. Everyone was nice, courteous and helpful. Stay here if you're looking for a quality hotel at a reasonable cost.

Overall we were very satisfied. However, I am very tall and the room height was really short -- 7.5 ft (228 cm). The made me feel claustrophobic.

1 king 2 twins. Great for groups. TV channels are a little limited, but who needs tv when you have Sydney to see. Taxis always around. Very close to food. Shopping centre downstairs.

Business hotel with a central location. Monorail transportation station attached to the hotel building. Two blocks away from the city rail system. Two blocks away from the theater. Pick up location for excursion buses and airport charters. Profesional attendence at every level. The bed and pillows were confortable. Only one confortable chair and one straight back desk chair in the room.

This hotel was completely standard in just about every way, and I mean that in a good way. Any American traveller will instantly feel at home and know what to expect - think Marriot or Sheraton and you get the idea. Room comes with all the standard stuff - in-room safe, nice big TV, full bathroom etc. It's clean for the most part (although our maid one morning forgot to clear away used breakfast plates and another morning left sand on the bathroom floor), and very comfortable - trust the reviews saying the beds are great, bcs they really are. Location-wise its just about perfect. Right at the border of the central business district and chinatown. Its a 15 minute walk to most major attractions - Circular Quay, Opera House etc., and even closer to Darling Harbor and Hyde Park. Super convenient that its located right above a major mall, complete with a pharmacy and large grocery store. We bought bottled water in bulk here and saved quite a bit on the otherwise expensive convenience stores etc. Theres a monorail stop right out front - we didnt use this very often since we could walk everywhere we wanted to go and the monorail doesnt go many places, but, well, its there if you want it. This part of town is pretty happening at night, which was cool some nights and aggravating others, but thats not the hotel's fault. Lots of bars/clubs/restaurants about, and an easy walk/cab ride to some of the trendier neighborhoods like Darlinghurst and Surry Hills. The service could have been better - during our stay the front desk staff seemed a bit cold at times. If you can afford it, spring for one of the "executive" level rooms that give you free access to the executive lounge - the free cocktails and appetizers from 5-7 were a great treat (and a decent selection of booze and wine, to boot). Breakfast in the lounge every morning wasn't expansive, by any means, but it was free and decent. Worth grabbing a cup of coffee on the way out anyway. The best part of the lounge though was

Nickel and Dine you to death, Exec. Level rooms are not work the extra money, drinks were ok but the food was not.. Cheese was old, hot food was limited and not good, But there are 6 floors of exec. rooms so the room was always PACKED.. and only open for 90 minutes in the evening and 2 hours in the morning. Hotel is in the middle of Chinatown, long walk to Sydney Harbour, but short walk to Darling Harbour.. Watch the mini bar, they tried to charge me for something everyday when in fact I never used the Mini bar.. Had to dispute the charges which they were not happy to take off.. Like I said.. the nickle and dime ya to death..

we upgraded to executive suite which included a large 1 bedroom with 2 bathrooms. the bed was extremely comfortable. also with the upgrade for 90 (which is not much) was also included breakfast and happy hour. Drinks on a whole are very expensive so it was quite a treat to have that included.

Nice rooms, great location close to Darling Harbor. Wonderful ethnic restaurants in the area. Much less expensive than Circular Quay and more centrally located to attractions.

I am so glad I chose this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was spacious and clean, the bathroom had both a full size tub and a separate shower stall. It was comfortable and quiet inside my room. Outside, the hotel was clearly quite popular, with people coming and going all day long. The breakfast buffet was limited but tasty. I am a single, older female and I felt completely safe walking in the neighborhood. The first day I was there I walked to Darling Harbour, which was closer than I had realized. The monorail stops next door, and buses and free shuttles are about a block away.

the only complaint is that wireless internet was about $2.99 / 20 minutes. You can get FREE WiFi from the McDonald's down the street though. The room was clean, shower worked well, bell hops and cleaning people did excellent jobs. The beds are very comfortable and pillows soft. i would stay here again. The monorail is right next to it and you can easily walk to the Rocks, Financial District, pADDY'S MARKET, THE SMALL AS HELL cHINA tOWN, AND A FEW BLOCKS AWAY from the opera house area, sorry for the CAPS.

Great location within walking distance of many sights we wanted to see, Darling Harbor, Aquarium, Museum, and restaurants. The Rocks district with the Sydney Opera House was just a little further walk than the others mentioned. Economical food and coffee is available at the hotel for a quick bite as well as in the many restaurants/shops in the mall below. The metro stop on the same block as the hotel is not covered by the City Rail pass. It's a separate company, and we wondered if it would have been better to get an extended pass for the Metro Light Rail.

The hotel is located in a great location. The staff was helpful and friendly. All things considered this hotel was good value.

Met my needs perfectly for price (after Hotels.com discount) and location. Room would be considered small for two people but perfect for a single person. Monorail stop adjoins directly to the hotel, which is fantastic if you want to get to Darling Harbour, Star City, the exhibition or convention center quickly. Easy to get (free) bus from near hotel (George street) to the Rocks. I also could easily walk to Central Station. Not sure what you would do for parking if you had a car?

Great experience in this hotel. Very convenient to all major landmarks and the staff at this hotel were very attentive. Rooms were very quiet and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again

Room and price ok. Location not bad, near lots of restaurants, very downtown. Felt nickel-and-dimed by the hotel -- $22/day for internet access, $32 for breakfast in the hotel restaurant (step outside for a good breakfast for $12). So, Ok, neither bad nor excellent.

Hotel was very nice, comfortable, convenient and located right. Problem is that access to internet was $11.00/ hour or $22.00/ day. No wireless service either. Most hotels in US offer free internet as a convenience to their business customers. This was disappointing

A brilliant location, clean room, friendly staff. My only complaint is they they charged me an outrageous amount for making local calls - and then added a surcharge for paying the amount with a credit card!

The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to Darling Harbor or Sydney Harbor. The staff is very friendly and helpful to make sure any question you have gets answered. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Excellent concierge service. Good front desk. Housekeeping is faulted for not catching or reporting very loose faucet in bathroom and leaving previous guest's shampoo on top of shower door frame. Otherwise, a very clean, modern and comfortable hotel. Good value for the money. I did not patronize restaurant, so cannot report on it. The hotel is in middle of busy downtown location.

I was incredibly pleased with this hotel. Having never been to Sydney before, I was not sure what to expect with regard to the hotel and how convenient it would be to things however it exceeded every expectation I had. Big room, great bathroom, excellent ammenities, all for a very good price. Compared to an American hotel, I would say this hotel is like a nice Hilton or Doubletree. The location is the best feature. Easy walking distance to the two main harbours (10 minutes to Darling Harbour, 22 minutes to Circular Quay), all the major sightseeing attractions, tons of shopping and places to eat. Very friendly and helpful staff and conceriege. Safe location with plenty of nightlife on the same block as the hotel.

The hotel is on Pitt Street in World Square which is right in the middle of the central business district. Sydney has a wonderful public transportation system and the hotel is easily accessed. The main train station (Central) is a 10 minute walk. The surrounding area has a very strong Asian influence and if you like Asian cuisine, you will be overwhelmed. The hotel has a nice restaurant on-site that is a bit more expensive than the local ones. The hotel concierge is very helpful as are the desk clerks. They are happy to hold your luggage for you if you arrive before your room is ready or if you need to leave later after check-out. Our room was very nice, clean and quiet as long as no one was in the hallway. Our first night (Saturday), there was a lot of partying and loud talking in the halls until after midnight. A little insulation around the door frame would have done miracles. Otherwise, we were very happy with the hotel and its services. The hotel arranged a shuttle for us to the airport for about half of a taxi fare.

Staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed there on two seperate occasions on our recent holiday in Oz,On our second visit the room was made available to us very early in the morning which was greatly appreciated, however it was not quite of the same standard as our first room but overall we were very happy with our stay.

Located next to the World Square and the monorail. Excellent location makes the price worth it. We did not take advantage of the expensive in-room internet fee but instead used an internet cafe in the World Square for a minimum fee. It was covered up with college age Asian students playing online video games but was quite functional for the purpose of email too. Stayed 3 days in a Family room and enjoyed the space (although only one bathroom) for the three of us to spread out. Mattress was supposed to be high end but they had not "redone" our particular room yet. Pillows were one hard and one soft for each person. Able to walk to the great shopping at the Queen Victoria Building or ride the monorail. World Square had lots of restaurants at reasonable prices. Rode monorail to the waterfront area and went to the Aquarium for a couple hours. Strange thing for those who get easily disoriented is that the hotel has several entrances on the street and in the World Square. You will need to remember which one you went in or out of to keep yourself straight. Another comment is that this hotel is designed to be very welcoming to Chinese visitors with all signs in both English and Chinese characters. It is also located on the edge of the Chinese section of Sydney. Sometimes we felt very much in the minority as Caucasian Americans.

Great hotel, exceeded my expectations for the price paid. The location was excellent in terms of accesibility to other great sites in Sydney and the Museum train stop. Most attractions are within walking distance of the hotel, but the train was extremely convenient. I took it everywhere! I was traveling alone and felt safe in the hotel and neighborood. I had minimal interaction with hotel staff but all the encounters I had were great and they were very accomodating to my needs. Highly Recommended!!!

Well situated in the middle of Sydney in walking distance from Darling Harbour and Circular Quay.

Rydges World Square is perfectly located for long walks through all of Sydney...the harbor, the opera house, the harbor bridge and great shopping. There's also a monorail station right there and easy access to public transportation. Very helpful concierge arranged a tour for us as well.

Slightly dissapointed when I first arrived at noon that they were not able to offer me a room but on arriving back at 2.30pm my room was ready and my bags had been delivered to the room and were waiting for me. Huge big cosy bed, nice rooms but carpet was quite badly stained and the milk for coffee had been placed so close to the freezer section of the fridge it was a solid block! Bathroom had really nice toiletries plus gown and slippers but plug was missing from sink. The executive lounge was open for a couple of hours for drinks in the evening and then open for a few hours for a very nice continental breakfats. All in all a good city centre hotel and worth paying the extra for the exec room

My wife and I enjoyed staying at this hotel, great location which is close to everything including eating in Chinatown. The hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. If the room price is right again.....we would plan to go back there next year.

The hotel had everything one would expect from a 4 star. It was like staying at a nice Hilton in the US. The hotel was elegant. The rooms were a nice size with a nice bath. It was noisy on the weedend nights as the hotel sits in the middle of a huge shopping, restaurant area. There are multiple restaurants in and very near the hotel with all different food types. There is also a grocery store, pharmacy, shopping center right next door. The monorail and subway stations are within walking distance. The train station was a close cab drive away. The transport from the Sydney airport to the hotel was $12.50 AUD.

Ideal situate for everything in Sydney. Sadly the cleanliness of the room was very poor. Bins not emptied from previous people and although reported, still not done until next day. Dust was VERY thick on the furniture. Very disappointing but did not mar our stay. The concierge staff were first class.

We can't wait to go back! Helpful staff and very comfortable and perfect location - many small restaurants and shops nearby and very close to bus and subway (about a mile from the Quay). We spent eight nights there and think the location is great for seeing Sydney. The hotel is being upgraded to a 5-star and is looking beautiful yet small enough that we got to know the staff. Gym and guest laundry are small and bare bones but worked for us.

my husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Rydges world Square in Sydney, We were there five nights and and we were treated well and were comfortable with the location and the whole hotel experience. The Staff is great!

Was given an upgrade on arrival ..... always a good start. This was a good hotel, used it twice, no regrets. Breakfast is very expensive in my view. Get a great breakfast, half the price, next door to hotel entrance in Pitt St. Concierge also excellent in arranging trips etc for guests.

Right in the heart of Sydney, the location can't be beat. The hotel itself is pretty much the same as it was when it was the Avilion Hotel...which is to say, it's great. Top-notch helpful staff, and very nice rooms. I think the mattresses themselves could be a bit better...but weren't bad, just average.

Les - : - Internet payant. - Nombreux problèmes d'équipements ( porte electronique bloquée toute une nuit, travaux dans la chambre d'à coté un dimanche après midi, etc...) - Service de nettoyage des chambres non coopératif ( nounours de ma fille ayant disparu au cours d'un nettoyage de chambre )

Det er noen rom som vender mot en liten gågate og ikke inn mot "torget" på baksiden av hotellet. På disse rommene er det en monoton støy fra ventilasjonsviftene til World tower. Lyden føles som en vibrasjon når du skal sove... Fikk byttet rom og her var det veldig bra!
