We found a dead bed bug in our room. None of us had any bites but it was terrifying that we may be bringing them with us on the next leg of our journey to LA. Our friend who we were stayed with would not have been very happy, and neither would I. You get what you pay for I guess.

Very interesting hotel. Each room is themed for a classic movie. Two theaters showing classic films free for guests. The down side is that it is on the edge of a terrible neighborhood with prostitutes and drug dealers pitching their services loudly all night long.

title says it all. I should note that I travel to this area of San Francisco at least 1/year for the last 16 years. This was the worst experience, by far!

Even the air heating is not working in everyroom, the front desk's good attitude towards this problem makes me feel responsible. And they are really at a very convenient location except there are so many homeless around, not recommend for a single young lady to go out at night alone.

this hotel was very clean and located very close to pubic transit system, shopping, and restaurants. the price is right and location is perfect. would stay here again

I stayed at Hotel Bijou for 3 nights with my dog. They were very friendly and accomodating. Room was very nice and smelled fresh, no animal smells or ugly carpets like some "pet rooms". Clean updated bathroom. Had nice elevator which made it convenient for dog and luggage. Conveniently located near BART station. Not the best of the neighborhoods, especially later in evening. Be aware that they charge a high parking fees. Fortunately we did not have a car. Rooms were clean enough (for the price point). The area is quite noisy but that might be the case with most downtown places. All in all, the pros: near a lot of attractions, […] restaurants, and public transport. Cons: Shady neighborhood. I would recommend it for price conscious travelers (which you are if you are looking at this hotel) as long as you take proper precautions (not walk alone late at night etc...) your should be fine. The hotel is right on the edge of a rougher section of town which is kind of the way San Francisco can be, as you're SO close to some major sites including Union Square. I had a ritual--walk out of the hotel to the right, and go left to the Powell Station, which is like a block, and you're fine. But don't go in any other direction. Very comfortable and convenient place to stay.

Hotel Bijou is convenient to Union Square. If you don't want passing market st riff raff then choose another hotel. If you are the get in get out who cares traveller, then this is your place. Staff is friendly. Don't like the low pressure showers so this brings the rating down mostly.

Staff was all very nice and helpful, the room was clean and had just about everything we needed. Central location in San Francisco, we made our way around the Union Square area so this was very convenient. Lots of bars, restaurants, shopping, really everything you could ask for. Will definitely stay again when I'm in San Francisco

Hotel Bijou is a little warn gem of a Hotel located at the edge of the Tenderloin district. I've stayed at this hotel 4 times when I needed to be on a budget but have a great location. The staff is always helpful and the room is clean and spacious for 1 person. I think most people are concerned with the noise from outside. It can be interrupting however […] requesting a room up high away from elevator helps a little. If you're staying in S.F. 3 or more nights, this place is affordable so you can spend your money on the town. Leia mais

The upside - close to Union Square (about 3 blocks) and BART Powell St. station (about 1 block), cheap and clean with friendly service. The downside - the neighborhood is a bit sketchy and there is some street noise in the evening. I would return if travelling alone. If I were travelling with a spouse or SO, I'd want something tonier.

Hi The Bijou is value for money in SFO, which is not a cheap city. The staff @ the Bijou were great, friendly & helpful. The BIG problem is the noisy neighbours, if the hotel had A/C & double glased windows this would reduce the problem a lot. We had to sleep with window open due to the warm weather & this did'nt help. The $7.00 breakfast was convient […] & sufficient for us, again good value. To someone on a budjet I would say yes the Bijou is for you, if you want luxury definately not. The rooms & bathrooms are small but clean, the bed was comfortable, & no bugs. I would recomend the Bijou to someone who was prepared to accept the above. No worries. Leia mais

Exceptionally friendly staff. They deserve top marks. Location is fine. The TL is down the block, but the hotel itself is squarely downtown. The hotel itself is a bit old and could use a spruce-up. The room names was cute, but I wish they took it just a wee bit further in the decor.

Bed very uncomfortable, room very small. we were given a room where you could hear the elevator go up and down all night very difficult to get to sleep

Hotel Bijou is located near it all. Cable Cars, Union Square, China Town and more. Great staff, awesome environment. Relaxed and enjoy. 5 Stars!!!!

The neighborhood was terribad... the hotel rate was expensive... to top everything off we had to pay 27$ for parking over night which is a block away... walking a block in that neighborhood at night is not a good idea... stay in packs because that is what we did and made it out okay :D but i got to say it was entertaining to watch people deal drugs […] from our window in downtown SF :p Leia mais

Bad area, no A/C, very small rooms.

2nd time I've stayed here. Still would recommend it. Great location to many restaurants, Bart, Market st., Convention center etc!

I live in NYC and even I was creeped out by this place and its location. While the room was clean, everything about this hotel seemed off. There are plenty of other places to stay in the neighborhood. Keep east of Mason Street.

very noisy, a lot of beggers. not hot water in the bathroom. maintenance came to fix it and the guy said that there was hot water... (whatever)... not recommended

The hotel is a bit out dated but clean and nice. It's quirky with all the movie themes. The area is not a nice area but if you walk out of the hotel and walk left you'd never know it. If you happen to turn right you'd see what looks like the pit of SF. Plus, I happen to always sleep with earplugs when I'm on the road but I would recommend bringing a […] pair if you're facing the loud side of the street. So this is a smaller/older hotel. It is NOT your typical chain hotel. Rooms are tiny (I live in a small apt in NYC and I thought the room was small), but they were clean and pretty well cared for. Great location for walking to Market St. or Moscone Center for conferences. But... my window overlooked a Harlem-esque street with un-domiciled peddlers, […] drunks and loud car stereo's all night long. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE HOTEL! A very cute and fun hotel. Keen and pleasant staff. Cool movie theme. No AC so my south facing room was really hot, and it's too noisy to sleep with window open. You get what you expect for a two and a half star hotel.

Hotel has no AC. In addition, there were no screens on the windows. There was constant threat of a pigeon flying in the window. In addition, there was street noise (people shouting, sirens) all night long. Didn't get any sleep, and checked out the next day. On the plus side, they were helpful when we checked out (3 days early).

I have stayed here two times, both in the same room overlooking the street. There is a bad bar next door, and policy had to come and break up a fight. It was quite noisy.

No AC, and the neighborhood is pretty sketchy. Otherwise it is fine.

It's not the 4 season but if you want a cute hotel that's reasonably priced and right off of the financial district I don't see how you could do any better. Staff was awesome, hotel was very clean, the theme of the place is cute and I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Just a great place and I'll definitely be back.

I stayed in the Hotel Bijou 6 years ago and enjoyed my experience. The hotel is less desirable now as the quality of the service has deteriorated. I received an erroneous wake up call one day. I asked for a wake up call on the day of my departure and did not receive it and almost missed my flight home. When I mentioned it to the front desk person, he […] said it was in the book and wondered if I did not hear the phone call. No apology was offered. The hotel is situated next to a sports bar. Because of this, hotel rooms on lower floors are very noisy and distractions occur throughout the night. The hotel is not the financial bargain it used to be. Front desk staff was very friendly. Room was clean and quiet but at night there were couple of strangers around the hotel and they were very noisy. The hotel is located near the best and heart of San Francisco.

This hotel is in a perfect position to visit all the main tourist attractions. The room was clean, the rest of the hotel could do with an upgrade. staff always helpful.We would stay here again. Do pack ear plugs the night noise is unbelievable.

There is a sleezy, noisy bar next to the hotel, and people congregate outside to drink and smoke and talk very loudly. It made sleep difficult.

The Bijou is a good value for your money. It is located very close to the Powell street BART stop and is centrally located to lots of parts of the city. It's not the newest or cleanest hotel, but if you want that, be prepared to open your wallet wide at another hotel. Keep your wits about you in the surrounding blocks and you will be fine. Good hotel, there was some problem with the booking that I had made with Hotels.com (for September instead of August), but they were able to give us an equivalent room. Friendly staff, we did watch a movie in their private small cinema which was nice.

The themed hotel was really fun in a funky way with tiny rooms full of strange angles and product placement. The location was excellent, close to restaurants, shopping, entertainment and public transit. The downside: The clerk pretended she didn't have a room for me when I arrived. This is not the first time when booking through hotels.com that check […] in has been a long, painful process. I have learned to arrive early, rather than checking in after an event, bring my confirmation number, be firm and patient and not accept "we will put you up in another equal hotel." Was noisy (we were in the front), but did OK with ear plugs. The neighborhood is a bit iffy after dark, but the hotel itself felt safe. And, when you're close to a busy urban centre, you can expectect some noise. Only a few blocks from powell/market, so easy to get to sites. Room was clean, service was helpful. stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at a very reasonable rate. the hotel staff were the nicest I have come across thorughout our entire trip of the USA, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the hotel is so centrally located, I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will be staying there again on my next visit to san fran

We were pleased with our stay at this hotel. It is located only a few blocks from Union Square and transportation. It is a older hotel but it is well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The rooms were on the smaller side but it was just fine for us. It was a great deal for the price.

Great location if you are going shopping. It`s only one block from the start of Powel street, and the big shoppingsenter Nordstrom is nearby. But the hotel is at the edge of a bad neighbourhood. Yes this hotel is on the border of the Tenderloin, yes there is some noise from the street, however the hotel is in a wonderful location.... great access to public transportation. I left my car parked and took public transportation all over the city. The street noise didn't really bother me, kind of added to the ambience.
