What I appreciated the most is the parking that the hotel provided. In Dublin parking is at a premium and very difficult to find in the surrounding neighborhood. The only negative comment I have is the shower curtain was missing when we arrived at our room. The hotel, upon our call to room service corrected the situation.

The Mespil is located in a good spot with some rooms with nice views of the canal. The rooms need the decor updated. I woke up with a hangover and the curtains were absolutely no help at all. However, the general upkeep of the hotel seems to be good and the lobby is nicely decorated. The front office staff were not very attentive when it comes to informing guests of the parking arrangements. The carpark is first-come first-served so get there early.

The Mespil was a great value. The decor and accommodations are a bit tired, but the location was great. It was within walking distance of most attractions. During a 2-week stay in Ireland, this hotel was by far the best deal in terms of lodging.

Stayed in this hotel for the all ireland hurling final. I know it was a busy weekend, however, i wasnt overly impressed by the hotel. I stayed here before so i knew what it would be like, however, my experience this time was worse than previous. Firstly, they had no parking available as the car park was full. Staff were not overly friendly - it doesnt cost that much to be polite. Room service in teh hallway was loud, and started at about 7am. On the first night, a cherrypicker was outside the window and kept me awake from 8am in the morning. Only had shampoos the first night, they didnt provide any refills for the 2nd night. As i had no parking, i had to get up at 7am on the 2nd morning to top up the paymeter on the street. the hotel location wasnt bad.. the decor is starting to get a little shabby. Was on ok experience, however, you could get cheaper hotels nearby for better quality!

If you don't mind walking a bit, the hotel was fairly convenient to the main areas of Dublin. It was about 15 minutes, but a straight shot to Stephen's Green and Grafton St. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The parking lot is small and tended to fill up, but we were able to find parking on the street.

Hotel in a great location. Close enough to all the city centre attractions, and with plenty of amenities close by - pubs, restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, etc. Only negative observation was that the walls appeared to be a bit thin and there were some late night noisy guests on Sat eve/Sun morning rowing in their room after a night out on the town!!

Hotel located near Grand Canal, about a 10 minute walk to St. Stephens Green. Less tourist traffic in neighborhood, which leads to lower prices than you'll find in Temple Bar or along O'Connell St. Hotel provides parking which was a great benefit since we drove back from Galway and had to leave for the airport in the morning.

A weekend stay in Dublin was made even more pleasurable by staying in the Mespil Hotel. The rooms are comfy and clean , with helpful staff. The buffett breakfast turned out to be very good value compared to Dublin prices(very expensive). Its location is quiet and attractive overlooking the cleaned up Grand Canal. Its a bit of a walk into the heart of the city but worth it to be away from the general noise and clutter of the nightlife areas. The only problem was the vanishing electric irons. Every other floor has an ironing room with an electric iron and board. These kept vanishing whem you needed them and re-apprearing when you did not. Are they time traveliing? Why not hardwire the irons into a wall socket so they cannot be taken by the guests into their individual rooms ( and then left there!)

Not very far from the city centre, but very comfortable and cozy. The corridors seem a little bit gloomy and old, but once you enter the room, everything's ok. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom just a little bit old too but ok. The staff were very kind and helpful to us. We didn't taste the breakfast as this was not included in the price. Average, I'd say. A little bit expensive to my liking, but then again, we booked it really late.

Although they are trying to cosmetically update the hotel, the heating system is in need of major repairs. My room was so unbearably hot that I had to leave the windows open all three days I was there - and that was during a rainy November! Even when I complained to the front desk, nothing was fixed or adjusted. The hotel is also a very long walk from the Dublin nightlife so plan on taking a cab when you go out.

A really nice clean and tidy hotel in a good quiet location, although a 10 or 15 minute walk from the town centre. This wasn't too much of a problem as the bus into town only cost 1 Euro. We found some really nice Irish bars on the road between the hotel and the centre that we wouldn't have found had we been staying in the centre.

We picked the Maspil Hotel for the proximity to City Center, and for the more quiet location. Many other hotels were in areas where loud pubs and partying were a problem. We are a mature couple from Richmond,Virginia, and spent 3 nights at the Maspil Hotel in the end of August. There is a nice canal across the street for an evening or morning stroll. The full Irish breakfast was a bit pricy, except on Sunday, but the continental breakfast was reasonable and very satisfying. We even had a nice meal in the hotel pub one rainy evening. Nice friendly staff and free internet service. We used the Airport shuttle, which was only a 5 minute walk. We highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was well placed for a quiet stay whilst near enough to the central 'Tourist' attractions. We didnt eat in the hotel but prices seemed reasonable and it was well patronised.

This place was in a great location to be able to walk to several areas of Dublin that we wanted to see including St. Stephans Green, Grafton Street, Trinity Temple, catching the Hop-On Hop-Off bus and several others. The taxi ride from the airport was a bit pricey, but if you can catch the shuttle up the street a bit (on Lesson) that's only 7 euros. We choose the taxi because we had a lot of luggage and didn't want to drag it around. There is no air conditioning, but the hotel provided a fan for the room which worked well enough to let us sleep so just make sure to ask for it. The plumbing didn't flush very well either, but a few tries and it did work. Overall, I'd stay there again for the convenience and friendliness of the staff.

My double room actually had a double and a twin bed. The rooms were quite roomy, staff was friendly and helpful. Not a lot of frills - wi-fi/internet wasn't free and there is actually no fitness center as the site advertises. The location was about a 10 minute walk to St. Stephen's Green and 20 minute walk to Temple Bar, which I liked since it put the hotel in a quiet part of town. There is also a nice stream across the street from the hotel which is nice for sitting and relaxing or for a morning run. Simple, no frills, good value.

The Mespil Hotel was the last hotel for our bus tour of Ireland so we booked an extra night. It was a lovely hotel with a very helpful staff. The room was clean and roomy. It was about 15 minute walk to central Dublin and the hotel offers a free shuttle to that area to pick up the hop on/hop off tourist bus circling all the sites. Their is a canal in the front of the hotel that offers a dinner/wine cruise, we opted for dinner at the bar and we were happily surprised at all they offered at a great price. The main restaurant was alittle more expensive. A very good value.

I loved almost everything about the Mespil. The staff, maintenance, and room service were wonderful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. My only disappointments were that there was a shower curtain instead of a shower door, and that there was instant coffee and a hot water boiler instead of a coffeemaker in the room. Other than that, the restaurant and bar are top-notch, and the service was great.

I would say this hotel is much better than most of dublin city centre hotels in dublin..( of same price range). The room was good , good size (not often u see these days), clean etc..but just there was no AC and i was surprised by seeing heating radiators in the hotel room .. in this day and age. but as the weather was great so ....it didnt bother as much. The breakfast area was good as it seems newly updated but I guess they need to updae the bar a bit.. Definately its good value for money and good comfort as not very noisy at nite.
