Ascot Hotel & Spa - Copenhague

O Hotel Ascot é confortável e muito bem localizado, fica próximo às principais atrações da cidade (é possível ir à pé). Fica próximo também a pontos de ônibus e estação de trem. Os funcionários do hotel não são muito solícitos. A internet Wifi é gratuita, no entanto o sinal não é bom o que gera diversos problemas de acesso.

The hotel does not have its own restaurant (probably just as well given the high cost and mediocre quality of the breakfasts), but actively promotes a number of neighbouring restaurants. We ate at one of these, Il Peccato, and two of the group suffered from food poisoning. The timing, and who had eaten what at that and other meals meant that it could […] be isolated beyond all reasonable doubt to that restaurant. The restaurant's response was simply to deny (very rudely) that it could be their fault, while the hotel's response was to point out that they have no responsibility for the restaurant (although there is a menu in every hotel room) and to tell us to 'have a nice day'. This is a very nice centrally located hotel with friendly and efficient staff, however, the walls in our room were very thin so we were very aware of all movement along the corridor and adjoining rooms which seriously disturbed our sleep. Not recommended for light sleepers.

The hotel was older and clean. The lift was small and quite a tight fit but easy to go up and down the stairs (only 4 floors). The front desk staff were nice enough but there was no one to assist with luggage. You have to carry your bags downstairs yourself and stow your bags in a big room (not very convenient or secure considering people were in and […] out of the room without supervision). The room itself was quite small and the heaters were under the windows so when you shut the curtains the heat was blocked (I was chilled). Other small things like not having a rubbish bin in the room (there was a very small one in the bathroom) was an annoyance. Overall it was just okay and would be okay for a short stay if you were spending the majority of your time out of your room. Our room (103) was hot and noisy. The ventilation was very poor and you could hear absolutely every conversation from people passing our room in the hallway. The noise from the outside was also disturbing especially at night. The fitness room in the basement was ok but the equipment was either broken or low budget (treadmill). You can easily be fooled into believe that this hotel has something to do with Spa, but NOT, only a simple store where you can book a facial. The room smelled really badly and cleaning must have been done by a sleeping zombie. Location wise this was the only thing that lived up to the hotels 4 stars.

The hotel location and overall service were great, but the room was so uncomfortable I would never choose to go back. The room was small, had a twin bed, and the layout was such that I could not even stretch out my arms without the fear of knocking something over. The room was EXTREMELY cold (this was in October). I was not able to control the heat […] setting and had to ask for an additional down comforter for the bed. The room was so uncomfortably cold that as soon as I got back to it I would have to get under the covers and stay there to stay warm. Also, the shower water leaked into the rug of the bedroom area due to the room design (and perhaps a faulty sealant... but still). There was also a lot of hallway noise that came into my room. This room was definitely not worth what I paid for. A colleague of mine was assigned a room right next to mine... she took one step in (to her room, which was similar) and went straight to the front desk and said it was unacceptable. They put her in a room 3x the size with a king bed for no extra cost... I probably should have done the same, but had already unpacked and didn't think it was worth it at the time... but after a week in this room, I was regretting the decision to stay!! Leia mais

The hotel is close to the train station (~5' walk) and you can also walk easily to the places like Nyhavn (~20'' walk) etc. My room was ok and claen but the bathroom was very smelly (it seems they have a problem with their sewer system). I assume the more costly rooms are in a better condition.

When I arrived at the Ascot, I was given a terrible room--very small and depressing. I called the front desk and asked to be moved and was given a lovely, large, and very comfortable room. I guess they'll give you what you settle for. Basic room was cold and no anything like in the pictures on this site. Renowated maybe in the 90's. Room was also noisy in the night and the towels and the sheets should have been thrown away long ago. Atleast our room was nowhere near the scandinavian standards. Can recommendate this to anyone as it was also pretty expensive.

This is an old hotel that has been refurbished but remains old and dusty. You are being asked to queue at reception to collect a breakfast voucher instead of just giving your room number at the entrance (why?) and mostly the hotel is advertised like a "Hotel & Spa", this is a lie. There is no Spa, they have never been and they will never be. There is […] a Spa in the same street that has NO agreement with the hotel and for which you will be charged as any other customer. It is therefore cunning and deceiving to call it a Hotel with Spa because it is not the truth. For this reason, and also the fact that the hotel is old and dusty, the beds are rather small and the rooms stuck in the 70's, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Leia mais

Quite a nice hotel with good facilities.

The hotel was clean, well maintained, and very well located being within easy walking distance of the central sites. I'm not sure it's really a 4 star hotel - more of a 3+. The room was quite small. The balcony looked out into a small enclosed space at the back. There is no air conditioning and we were too hot all 3 nights. Lighting in the room was […] very poor. Lighting in the bathroom illuminates the top of your head but not your face. Breakfast was very expensive (perhaps mainly because Denmark is very expensive) and the cooked breakfast was not very good - choice of scrambled egg (overcooked and very rubbery), chipolata sausages, pancakes, and boiled eggs. No bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes etc.. Cold buffet was better, and a good choice of fresh bread, rolls, Danish pastries etc.. Very tiny room, but great location and very good breakfast!

Extremely small rooms even for Europe. Beds were small as well. Two twins were college dorm size. Internet access was intermittent. It took two days to get an iron. Great location near Tivoli Gardens, but I would not repeat a stay at this hotel.

Had us scheduled for the wrong room---beds somewhat small---didn't eat in the restaurant as we found nice places around the hotel.

A centrally located hotel... close to all the public transportation to anywhere in Copenhagen. Two blocks away from Central Station which is an easy / cheap train ride from the airport. We'll stay again...!

Located at the central but hide away from the busy railway station. Stay at the renewly renovated room, space not too small, value for money.

Nice building and good location. Beautiful breakfast. However, the service was sloppy and confused. Our room was small and rather boring. Expensive car-parking. Bike-rentals and baths ridiculously over-priced.

Nice staff, even though our receptionist was a bit off (she might have been new). Our room was tiny, and the toilet and shower both clogged, which is when we called the lobby and they sent someone up. When he couldnt fix the problem we got transferred to a better, bigger room. Good location, I booked a hotel room but they gave us a residential apartment next door to the hotel. The apt had more space but it lacked the hotel feeling and smelled of cigarrete smoke.

It is the first time I have ever written an unsatisfactory review for a hotel but I feel future customers need to be warned. When we got into out room there was a bad sewage smell coming form the bathroom. We decided that the smell was so bad we would ask for another room. The staff was very nice and offered another room without hesitation, the problem […] was that the other room also had the same smell coming from the bathroom. We also felt a bit 'let down' with the 4 star rating as the rooms are really basic. The mattress was comfortable and allowed for a good night sleep and the area around the hotel was quiet. I feel the price we paid was to high compared to what friends paid in similar hotels (and they had the breakfast included, which we did not) in the same area. I highly recommend Copenhagen but would suggest there are far better alternatives for hotels in the city centre. Leia mais

The main problem is with the internet. I stayed there for 9 days and the internet only worked 2-3 days in a row. It is free, but you need to sign in with an email and password. After 2-3 days, your sign in is no longer accepted. When you try to log in, a response is sent that a new password will be sent to you and it isnt. This has happened during previous […] visits and is frustrating. I stay there when the price is right, but know I cant rely on Internet access. there wasn't much we liked about this hotel. The room was old, smokey, dirty and the decore looked liked is was from a second hand furniture shop.

The Ascot hotel was very nice, centrally located and had comfortable rooms. The only drawback was finding staff later on in the evenings as the front desk staff seemed to disapear behind closed doors. Outside of that, the hotel was great and made the stay in Copenhagen very relaxed!

Very poor comparing with the photos and website description. The rating for this hotel should be 3 star at the most and not 4 star as is on Hotels.com.

I have never felt so misled by a hotel. On the website it looked great and had good reviews here. I stayed here in early Feb 2011 and hated every second of it. It was like a hostel and the service was horrible.

Nice hotel, reasonable price. OK room. I specifically asked for a non smookers room and got that. It might be important if you don´t smoke, since earlier reviews have mentioned rooms smelling of smoke. Hotel is very practical located close to main Railway station, Tivoli and shopping streets.

We stayed at this hotel on two different occasions during the same trip. Both times were disappointing. My initial impression was that the rooms were the smallest that I had seen in Europe. But, I figured it was just my expectations that needed to be adjusted. The issues that really helped define my opinion began when our first bed broke the second […] my husband sat on it. He's a taller American, but in no way obese. The panels in the bottom of the bed just came out, and it made for a very poor night of sleep. Another issue was how gross the shower head was in the bathroom, which was very compact. We did have a bathroom with a reasonable bathing area the first evening, so it was apparent that there is variability in the rooms they offer. This variability was really frustrating during the second of our two stays. Our room was clearly made up for a single individual. One bath towel, one pillow on the bed, one individual feather duvet stretched as far as possible across the bed. Yet we were being charged for a double occupancy. I was able to view our neighbors room (who paid the same price), and they had two feather mattresses, blanket sets and feather duvets for two people, etc. We weren't provided the added mattresses as they were. The front desk was able to provide us with another pillow and towel, but the standards and variability for what amounted to be the same cost was quite a turn off. We aren't picky travelers, and the only reason we booked this hotel was because the cost was reasonable. If this is what you are going for, there are better options. Members of our travel group also stayed at the Hotel Maritime in between the Ascot stays, and they said that the rooms and beds are better, for less price. Great location that took me about 7 minutes to walk to the central station and great point to explore the rest of the city from. I booked this hotel for 5 reasons: 1. Location to station. 2. Spa next door (much needed weary traveler massage 3. decent price (although i am not sure worth it) 4. "room service" (loved that i could order a pizza from the […] nearby italian restaurant and charge it to my room. same for sushi place, etc. nad 5. Free breakfast buffet—which was great and maybe the most valuable part of the stay! The reception lines took forever. Lack of computer stations? So frustrating when you just want this process to go quickly and smoothly, especially if you are a tired traveler or trying to catch a train/plane. BUT I was so impressed with the patience, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the desk! The room was...uughhh. NOT the Hilton! Smelled like smoke from god knows how many previous guests smoking in it. yuck. The bed linens looked old and worn. The room was small. The furniture was not at all updated and lacked any kind of antique, charming feel--somewhere, bad, in the middle. The bathroom was ok--just a stand-up shower, a little small. With no complimentary toiletries, except for soap. And q-tips. Also, the building is so old that whoever was in the room above kept running around and literally shaking the lighting fixtures. The Mirage Spa next door was amazing!!!! I booked a one hour massage. I was greeted with a smile and a glass of champagne! How nice! The facilities were beautiful and I wish I could've booked more treatments! Back at the hotel, I enjoyed the cozy hotel bar full of old bookshelves and books. I ordered a pizza from next door from the bartender, it was put on my room bill, along with a glass of wine and i returned to my room to snuggle up and enjoy my "room service." I booked this hotel to attend an event with a colleague as it was reasonably priced and in a good location. The train station is a 10 minute walk away, and nearby you'll find restaurants including a really nice Indian across the road. The hotel lobby presents you with lovely pillars and reminiscence of a Roman spa with ladies and children in plaster […] on the ceiling. You get free WiFi access by registering your email address, although it was a bit slow at times. The room was very clean, but I could smell cigarette smoke, possibly from a previous guest, very strongly. I could see that this would bother most guests although I got used to it (I'm a non-smoker). The room is also very basic, containing a TV, hairdryer, fridge / freezer, some chairs, bed and a wardrobe. Breakfast is quite expensive, but you get a selection of cereals, toast, croissants, fruit, fresh ham, cheese, yoghurt, etc. Overall I had a pleasant stay, but don't expect a luxurious room. This hotel was close to the S-Train and a few blocks away from the central station and several sites. It seemed to be centrally located in the main part of the city. Very easy to get around town.

Ok yes I'm used to American hotels and European hotels are so not up to par but this one was icky. Spend the extra $100 to stay at a Marriot which was a 4 star I stayed at on another night in Copenhagen. The breakfast was alight the staff was blah and the room was dirty and the bed was practically on the floor, with piling on the 1970's poly bedspread. […] The carpet was heavily soiled and well just try another place. Found the hotel to be of very high standard both in the helpful staff and the cleanliness of all areas. The hotel was also very central to all the attractions. Which helped in the enjoyment of a great city. I would highly recommend the Italian resturant at the end of the street from the hotel and the canal tours.
