I have stayted at this hotel once before and enjoyed it the last time, despite some snafues, like asking for a rollaway cot for a grown person but getting a crib. This time was compeltely unpleasent, the front desk staff was rude to me and rude to others on different occasions during my stay. By rude, I don't only mean unhelpful they were getting attitudes with guests. So, my room, T.V. flickered, nothing could stop it, and it was on all chanels. There was a cigarette hole in the t.v. my finger could fit in. There was a suspicious yellow stain on the bathroom rug; yes what you're thinking is what I assumed it was. The room keys stopped working every once in a while. The front desk always was understaffed and had a long line, so getting a new key took a long time. No pressure in the shower, small amount of toilet paper was left in the bathroom. Other than that is was fine.

The hotel lived up to all of our expectations. It is centrally located in Toronto - close to great shopping (Eaton Centre) -- and within a short walk of theaters, restaurants, and other points of interest. The staff gave us great recommendations for places to have dinner and clear directions along the way. Everyone at the hotel was quite friendly and nice. While the room was smaller than a typical American hotel, it was sufficient space for us as we spent most of our time walking around the city. We were only 10-15 minutes walking time away from CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market (highly recommended!) and other areas of the city.

The best thing about the hotel is the location, its at the heart of downtown. The condition of the room is excellent, the only down side is the internet wireless signal is very weak. If internet access is a requirement, you might to check with the front desk to put you in a room thats closer to the wireless router.

First room that I received was terrible- humid, hot, really narrow and couldn't even get luggage into the room. I complained and was upgraded to a room that was on par with what I paid. PROS: Molton Brown bath products, good quality buffet breakfast ($14 per person for hotel guests), one block from Eaton Centre. CONS: $21/night for parking, bathroom has zero counter space and could use upgrading, no gift shop even though there are signs to a gift shop, no concierges service, not very nice front desk people.

I stayed one night during the weekend. It had the most competitive rate for a hotel of it's rating and it was certainly a great value overall. The decor is a little tacky (unless you like a lot of pink). Otherwise, the hotel is in a great location, in the middle of everything. My experience didn't knock my socks off by any means but it was a clean room at a reasonable price, no horror stories to report. I didn't really take advantage of any of the amenities outside of what was present in the room, so I can't comment on those.

Enjoyed our stay, staff was very efficient, hotel very clean and accommodations superior for the price we paid. We left something in one of the drawers and the household staff found the item and put it into lost & found. When we called the desk took our number and promptly called back to make arrangements for us to receive the item. I've left things before and this is the first time a hotel has acknowledged and returned anything. Highly recommend staying here.

My wife and I spent seven great days at the Metropolitan Hotel. During our stay we walked to every attraction in Toronto. We were able to visit all the different neighborhoods, Rogers Centre, Harbor Front, and Harbor Islands. Ground transportation from the airport is direct to the Metropolitan and runs constantly in both directions. Our tour to Niagara Falls picked us up right at the hotel and was an excellent and reasonable tour. The hotel was perfect for what we wanted to do during our stay. The hotel staff was helpful and attentive to whatever we needed. In addition to having a great stay, the hotel was also convenient to a large number of excellent restaurants. We also noticed that this hotel was used by visiting dignitaries, airline employees staying in Toronto, and beauty pageant contestants. We will look to return again next summer.

The Metropolitan is located close to Chinatown and the Art Gallery of Ontario, and is walking distance from lots more. The room was pleasant and the staff helpful. The only complaint was the prices in the hotel restaurants. We ate in the Asian restaurant in the hotel and ended up spending over $100 for two main courses and three glasses of wine. The food was good, but not that good. A Toronto native later recommended Asian Legend, which is in just a few blocks up on Dundas (418) where we had a fantastic dinner for about thirty bucks. Try their steamed dumplings with soup inside! We never did eat breakfast at the hotel, again b/c of prices. Try Java Joe's on Dundas, in the first block after you turn left onto Dundas. It's on the opposite side of the street that you'll be on. Great coffee etc. Toronto is a great place to visit!

The Metropolitan is our favorite place to stay in Toronto, and it never fails us (we've stayed there 3 times, and will every time we return to Toronto). The hotel is grand and beautiful, and the staff there is beyond cordial. Rooms are always clean an fresh, and the beds and pillows are very comfy! Plus, every room we've ever had there has had a beautiful view of the city. The location is central to & just a quick walk away from practically everything: Chinatown, Eaton Centre, CN Tower, theater and fashion districts, tons of restaurants, etc. Plus, they have a really nice pool area and fitness center in the hotel. What's also nice is they offer discounts to guests for their restaurant...the breakfast buffet is VERY tasty and has lots of fresh fruit and really good food. To sum it up, The Metropolitan is an all-around great place to stay...NO COMPLAINTS from us...and we highly recommend it to everyone!

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel. The room and linen were very clean and all facilities worked. Two minor points I would pass on to prospective clients are: 1. The shower can be a bit difficult to set up for the right water temperature - I received a minor scald on the wrist. In Canada we found two types of water flow regulator for the shower - one was where the operating knob was pulled out to start water flow, and the other (as in the Metropolitan) was pivotting the knob up and down. 2. Breakfast service could be improved. I have never before stayed at a hotel where I couldn't spread butter on my own toast! A minor point, maybe, but I would have expected a choice of butter or low-fat spread, instead of butter only. I was presented with toast plus butter!

This hotel, in the heart of Chinatown, is well-situated for the subway, Chinese and Japanese dinners, and an easy walk to the Art Gallery of Ontario. Rooms are better than simply functional, although they no longer have mini-refrigerators. Adequate fitness room, not great. Good restaurants in the hotel, offered at a modest discount. It's worth joining their loyalty club, even if you only stay once; it's free and gives you free in-room wi-fi.

I was worried about the surrounding area, but was close to the downtown area. The rooms were comfortable, I really enjoyed the restaurants, though being american I had no idea if I was being over charged or not, cause I was not paying attention to converstion rates. The room was clean and comfortable, bed was a bit stiff for my back. I did not like that I had to pay for parking, thats ridiculous to me and upset me. Over all a good stay and worth the price, though for me it was discounted, normal rates are higher

We stayed for 3 nights in a luxury room during the valentine time. Some good points: ->Excellent downtown location, near to Eaton center, UofT, CN tower, ROM and lots of good restaurants ->Valet parking was cheaper (CAD$26) in compare to other hotels in the same location ->Very friendly staffs ->Room condition was pretty good, nice downtown view from the window, even we could watch the CN tower from our window (24th floor) Not happy: ->LAI WAH HEEN restaurant was closed during our stay. -> I think they should provide free internet service (they charged ~CAD$10/night) But we would definitely recommend to other people to stay there.

The hotel itself was very nice and upkeep was great but several problems: The rooms (even the renovated ones were in rough shape) The decor was outdated and littledetails seemed to not be attended to. For example the phones on the wall were falling off the rug was cuming up at the edges, paint was chipped, etc. Also no where in the hotel or on the website did it mention that the Asian Restaurant which I was really looking forward to dining in was shut down for re-modeling!So while the price was great I would've been very upset if I had pain a penny more and will not be staying there again.

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Toronto across the street from City Hall and a short walk from Yonge Street. Hotel parking is for cars and small trucks only, however there is a 24 hour lot next door that is quite reasonably priced. Rooms are very small and my entertainment center was broken. The television looked to be about a 20' and was an absolute joke. Overall it was very economical and I would stay again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and it was just what I was looking for. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. The hotel was conveniently located near some great restaurants and shopping! The only thing that was a let down was the parking situation.
