Stopped by at 11 a.m to drop off our bags and our room was ready!! The enormous lobby with it's glass fireplace a peaceful respite to enjoy our morning coffee from the shop two doors away. Pre and Post theater crowd enjoyed the lobby bar (awesome mixed drinks!) Room was the huge. Central to everything. A perfect week-end

I like boutique hotels that dont make you feel like you are part of the masses of travelers. At the Royalton, rather than the psuhing and shoving, standing in long check in/out lines, climb over bags and through ropes, you are privately wisked through the process.

Royalton lobby, restaurant and bar, and location are excellent. The rooms are typical size for New York hotels in this category but need a little upgrading. Phillipe Stark bathrooms are striking but overall inconvenient and impractical whereas rooms themselves could use better lighting and an extra chair or two.

"cool" hotel (possibly a bit try-hard - would it kill them to raise the lights in reception a little more?) in what is an otherwise fairly boring location (midtown). Great if you are in town on business or plan to do sightseeing all over Manhattan, given its central location.

Stayed at the Royalton Hotel for my husbands 40th birthday suprise and the Royalton Hotel staff couldnt have been more accomodating. They very generously gave us a complimentary upgrade to an Alcove suite and a free bottle of Champagne - wow! The suite was gorgeous, beautiful bed linen and extremely comfortable bed, very stylish bathroom with 5ft wide circular bath and a comfortable lounge with fire place. Lots of really nice little touches like aBose sound dock for Ipods, little candles around the room and Korres Agua toiletries. We even had a turn down service where a lady came and pulled the curtains and blinds, put the lamps on and turned back the duvets! Truly spoiled! The hotel staff in the lobby were really friendly, the porters were very knowledgeable of the surrounding areas and if you decide to stay here you will not be disappointed with the location, 5 minutes walk to Times Square and straight onto 5th Avenue and all the fabulous shops, a perfectly central location, but once you are in the hotel it is an oasis of peace and calm. An extremely stylish lobby with beautiful decor and cocktail bar which was buzzing on an evening, although a little expensive, but you just have to sip a Manhattan in the uber trendy bar for the experience! I will definatly stay here again and plan another trip to New York in the near future, book with confidence, I am so jealous! Thank you so much Royalton - you made our stay a truly memorable one that we will never forget!

Hotel was great, we would definately stay there again. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. Close to Rockerfeller Center and Time Square, but on a quiet side street away from most of the traffic and noise. We would highly recommend this hotel.

A wonderful hotel. We were a block from Times Square. Arrived on a friday afternoon and did'nt have a place to eat for dinner. Called the front desk and they arranged for Sushi at Koi for 8:30 that night. Only negative comment would be that there are only 2 electrical outlets in the room. Very limited if you want to use your lap top and charge more than one cell phone.

I received a good rate for a one night stay. I loved the big tub in my room. The staff was friendly and accomodating. My one and only complaint is the Bar. I went down to have a few drinks with a friend and most of the good seating was reserved. I think a section should be blocked off for hotel guests, so they can take advantage of prime seating as well.

The view was overlooking another building, not great, but not bad. The only bad side of this hotel was how dark it is in the hallways and downstairs when you come in. Seems to cater to 20 and 30-somethings. The workers here are VERY helpful and we were upgraded when we got there, even though we only stayed a night. Highly recommended!!

Great location...dark lobby trying to be hip and failing...took to long to check in...dark hallways...insanely small room facing an airshaft and fire escapes...some kind of gunk on bathroom door...at about midnight the garage next door started power washing cars - didn't stop for an hour...Tv wasn't HD... Very expensive for not much value.

The loft room is great, especially the huge tub. My fiance loved it. The neighborhood was great (close to Grand Central) and the staff was very friendly. The cons: I would stay on a higher floor next time because of street noise. I usually expect this when I stay in NYC. However, an extremely loud trash truck showed up on the street below at 2:00 am and kept us awake for over half an hour. The front desk said that this was usual and would be gone eventually. Maybe they could reschedule their pickups for 10 pm instead? I also tried to order champagne from room service. I don't mind paying for room service, but the prices were ridiculously inflated. I ordered a bottle for about $50. Room service called back and said they were (conveniently) out of that particular champagne, and said they could bring me another one for $155. I know for a fact this particular brand retails for $42.00. How can they justify a mark up like that? I also think that if they are out of a particular brand, they should offer me something comparable. Still, I would stay there again.

I almost walked right by it because the front entrance is modest, not a bad thing. Upon entering the lobby you get the feeling you're in a lounge type bar/club, quite cool. People were sitting at couches and small tables, drinking and hanging out. It's dim style lighting nicely set the ambience. This theme continues as you take one of the cool elevators up to your room floor. The room doors are lit up and upon entering you're greeted by an aquatic motif. Cherry wood closet doors have small port holes, glass shelves in the bathroom and living room have sail shaped support brackets. Toiletries are high grade. The bed is top noth with an abundance of pillows and 800 plus thread count sheets. Overall, a very stylish hotel with great service that really makes you feel like you're in a Great City like new York.

For my wife's birthday we looked for a classy and chic midtown hotel different from the norm. We live just outside the city but rarely get to experience midtown (shopping, shows, diner) without the kids and this was the perfect remedy. The room was minimalistic, clean, comfy. The round tub was awesome and the blackout shades made us feel like we escaped the world. One complaint was that the LCD TV had a grainy and dark picture and should probably be replaced, other than that everything was great.

This hotel is definitely worth the money if you can find a good price break on the internet. Hotels.com offered a 33% discount from the rack rate and that was excellent. Not sure if that rate will be available on a regular basis, but the normal rack rate is just average for a luxury hotel. The rooms are comfortable and modern and the lobby bar is excellent, but the wireless internet connection is horrible. If you're on business and need constant broadband access, look elsewhere; otherwise a great hotel.

This is a great NYC hotel that has been very recently rennovated. The lobby is almost like a club (including a DJ on the Thursday night we were there) with a lot going on every night. The rooms are typical NYC small but the furnishing were top notch. The bathroom, shower, small couch and desk were all comfortable and functional. The hotel itself is just far enough from Times Square to be out of the fray, but close enough to be very convenient to everything.

We'd never been to NYC before and a collegue recommended this hotel. Very nice, very convenient to Times Square - we ended up walking to a lot of things that were close. The whole hotel is very well kept and rooms are nice and comfortable. More of a modern architecture look in the rooms. The thing that impressed me, for being in mid-town Manhattan, was that the rooms were dark and noise wasn't a problem.

Spent one winter's night at the Royalton and would definitely return. The front- desk staff were very friendly and warm. We stayed in a room with king bed, fireplace, and a "soaking tub" which is a very large round bath tub. The hotel itself is quiet, comfortable and dark. The lobby has a fireplace and very comfortable seating areas. There is a small bar which on the day we arrived had no bartender for some reason. A staff person said he'd be able to offer drinks but couldn't make any of the special drinks. The room was wonderful: large, spotless, cozy and the bed was very comfortable. A curtain drawn around the bed kept the room very dark, allowing us to sleep late and not realize that the sun came up hours earlier. The bathroom was elegant, the soaps, shampoos high quality, the shower fabulous. The only negatives: HBO wasn't working and although we were told it would be looked into, we never heard back and it never got fixed. The lighting in the bathroom is dim so applying makeup is a challenge. The hallways are also very dark but I guess that is considered chic in NYC. All in all, minor complaints. Highly recommend this hotel.

The Royalton is literally a hidden treasure, with no big sign outside, I walked by it 3 times before I found it! The lobby is beautiful, very modern and chic, the hallways and rooms were all updated, very modern, a little dark, but very clean and comfortable. Bathrooms had great showers, thick towels, great products, all glass and tile. Desk staff were very accommodating. Location was excellent. My only complaint was that I left something in the room, realized it as soon as I got home, called immediately and of course the item couldn't be found.Other than that, we had 3 rooms for family members and we all had a good experience.

Once our eyes adjusted to the very dark interiors of the lobby and hallways the rest of the stay was delightful. Our Deluxe King room was spacious and bright with a very unique modern design outside the norm for NYC. One of the best bathrooms in a hotel I have experienced. Views of the "city" take with a grain of salt. We were on the 11th of 14 or 15 floors and our city view was the street below and the middle of the building across the street. Hotel Restaurant for Dinner was pricy but not so much more than any other comparable quality in NYC.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this particular hotel. The room was well appointed with anything a person would need to relax. The bed was extremely comfortable, ipod docking station great for atmosphere and the large soaking tub was an added bonus (however it was slow to drain). Our room was extremely quiet and I slept well into the morning. Please note that while the hotel is modern and beautiful it is VERY dimly lit. The location was two blocks from Times Square and walking distance to both Bryant and Central Park. On the average, the doorman was able to call us a cab within a minute for our other destinations (MOMA was 5 minute cab ride). Although the location and accommodations were lovely, the greatest asset to the Royalton was the staff. Employees were professional without being pretentious. We were able to check our bags on our last day for eight hours (after check out). This was only after the front desk was kind enough to book a train for us upstate. I would primarily recommend this trendy hotel for the location and staff.
