Hotel muito agradavel. Para aqueles que estiverem de carro, SF fica a pouco mais de 15 minutos, no horario do rush. Apenas o cafe da manha achamos fraco. Excelente para ferias.

"Nice hotel in SF downtown"
it is not super cheap, but cheaper than most hotels in this area, especially considering quality of service and how nice is the room, i think this hotel is worth of consideration. We got free upgrade to bigger room at the time of check-in and staff was very nice and helpful.
"Size"
We were a little surprised at the size of the room. It felt a little claustophobic for my taste, all though they did a great job incorporating everything in the room, it still felt like we were staying in a closet. I we were to have stayed longer than the one day, I might have had to make other arrangments.

My husband and I stayer here prevoiusly when it was the Montecello and let me say, HOLY RENOVATION!!! We LOVED every aspect of this hotel. The decor was hip without being pretentious, the staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for what we needed. Clean, super efficient and COMFORTABLE!! The bed was so nice! The location is great […] for walking to all the great shopping spots (Union Square,Nordstrom and Bloomingdale malls) very close to a cable car line and super easy access to the Powell bart/muni station. We were going to the Giants game that night and it was SO easy getting there! The Italian restaurant that is attached was really good as well. "Small and Comfortable in SF"
Stayed here one night on a short trip to the city. Staff was exceptionally friendly and happy to help. Room was on the smaller side, but very comfortable and well kept. Reminded me of a cozy European hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommended.

Less than a minute walk to the Powell cable car turntable. Four blocks from the Theater district. The staff is very friendly. Inside rooms are smaller than outside rooms but are quiet. Cable car, street cars, buses, Muni, and Bart are a minute away. I will return.

"Great Hotel Experience"
My wife and I took a quick trip to SFO before flying home to Manila earlier this Month (August 2011). We weren't too familiar with the area, except for the famous SFO spots like Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. We knew we wanted to be in the center of the city so we wouldn't have to rent a car. We were pleasantly surprised when we found Hotel Abri […] on Hotels.com. It was right in Union Square at a price that we felt was a bargain. When we actually got to Hotel Abri, we were so happy that we chose it. The location was great, the staff were courteous and so helpful and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The only "downside" was that the walls were a little thin but that was little more than a slight inconvenience. We would DEFINITELY stay in Hotel Abri again and highly recommend it! Leia mais

Plus was the location and friendly staff; and the free internet access and newspapers. Minuses were the noise of the people above our bedroom both late at night and early morning; and the uncomfortable bed for a tall person like me.

Recent redecoration makes a hotel in a great location even better. The European styling, modern and edgy was stunning. Suite we had was spacious and accommodating with giant flat TV in both bedroom and common room. Bed comfortable and pull out sofa bed fine for children. Valet parking was a godsend in busy crazy city location.

This hotel was a great find and we would definitely stay there again. We travel on a budget and this place was totally affordable (especially on a holiday weekend) and had wonderful service. The rooms are small as most SF hotels are, but clean and well kept, and a short walk to shopping, Union square and BART. Perfect!

Hotel Abri was fantastic! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the hotel was in short walking distance to tons of restaurants and shops, and the room was clean and super cute! Next time I go to San Francisco I am definitely stayiing here!

"Crash Pad"
We've stayed in many hotels around the Union Square/Market street area, and Abri ranks right up there on our favorites list. It's relatively tiny when compared to other hotels like Parc55, but for a night and a decent rate, we were very happy.

Thank God my husband and I only stayed one night! Yes, I know it's San Francisco but this room was TINY - you could barely walk around the bed! There was also a window air conditioner that didn't work and was LOUD!! Good thing we were exhausted when we checked in at 10pm. Do yourself a favor and skip this place!!!
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. I'm sorry that you were unhappy with the size of the room. The Hotel Abri has rooms that vary in size quite a bit. Some are on the smaller side, which is typical of hotels in San Francisco that occupy older buildings. We were build in 1904 as a residential apartment building with 200 units and were converted to a hotel with 91 rooms in the 1970's. The hotel was closed for almost a year in 2007 for a complete renovation and we opended as the Hotel Abri in October of 2008 as a hip, urban oasis. I'm sorry that you had an issue with the air conditioner as well. Our units usually get rave reviews due to the ease of use and quick cooling of the guestrooms. I wish that you had stayed longer so that we could have addressed your issues and possibly turned you into a fan of the Abri. When your travels return you to San Francisco I hope that you would consider giving us a second chance!

"Hotel Abri in SF... not what I expected."
I'm not sure why this hotel has a 3 1/2 star ranking. It should clearly be a 3. It JUST meets, but does not exceed my expectations for a 3 1/2-4 star ranking. I selected this hotel for price, which was a great deal at the time. It's proximity to Union Square was not as expected... a few blocks too far for me. I've stayed in several that were closer, […] and paid just slightly more (which I will do next time). Parking is a BEAR in SF, so I always look for a hotel with valet service. Valet was switching shifts when I arrived, and I ended up in a messy traffic jam, with cars honking and threatening me because I was blocking traffic. When I parked in the only available area outside the hotel, I got a warning from a traffic cop that I would be towed! Not a relaxing way to begin my vacation!!! Night desk staff was not rude, but lacked professionalism. Room was very small, but nicely decorated, and very clean. Sheets felt like parachute fabric. We checked our bags for the day, and the day staff was very polite, and helpful. I would only stay here again if I got a SMOKING deal. "Hotel Abri: A hotel that knows how things are done"
The Hotel Abri proves an exquisite establishment. Everything about this hotel, from its prime location, to the intricate detailing and personal service, assure an exclusive experience of comfort and satisfaction. This hotel is completely and unpretentiously classy. It is an establishment knowingly providing personalised service and comfort to all guests. […] The Hotel Abri has been awarded a three and a half star rating, however this is indeed no reflection on the level of comfort and service provided, from check-in to check-out, and at all times between. When making a reservation, I often contact the hotel prior to my stay in order to make requests, ranging from high floor to quiet room location. On this occasion, my request was for the both of these, and I was very surprised to have been provided with a room that met these criteria. Check in was immediate, with no line to wait in. I was courteously checked in to my room by Tyler, who greeted me and offered his services during my stay. As mentioned, all members of staff are personable, and very approachable. I only had one other encounter with a member of staff: Jonathan, who followed through with my request almost immediately, and followed up with a call to ensure my request was taken care of. A few things worth noting are that the rooms are quite small, however this is commonplace in San Francisco, particularly the rooms being that of an older building. That being said, the room has been designed well, and there is sufficient room to move about as freely as required. Other (very minor and petty) points worth mentioning are that the showerhead was positioned at an uncomfortable angle, and the coffee was not replenished for the coffee machine throughout my entire four night stay. The lifts were also a little slow, but none of these points bothered me at all, really. It just may be worth mentioning for the benefit of others. "Clean, pretty, small, noisy"
The hotel is a small, renovated boutique hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, small rooms. Very loud as the hotel is off of Ellis St. right in the middle of Union Square. It is in the middle of shopping and good food.

I do want to share that we have 20 rooms out of a total of 91 that have bathtubs and they can be requested at time of reservation or check-in. We also ae in the process of adding additional shelving in the rooms that we have with smaller bathrooms and pedestal sinks, as a result of comments such as yours. I have stayed on 3 occasions at the hotels around Union Square in San Francisco. Each time I thought that the well maintained but old looking rooms and hotel conditions were the standard of the city for the price I was paying! Not so at the Hotel Abri. This is a high quality, modern and upgraded hotel for a very reasonable price. I will definitely […] return to stay at this hotel. The inside room that we had was quiet, clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. We even got afternoon cocktail to relax with at the end of the day in the lobby! To top off the five star service, the hotel offered to send couriers to pick up your packages if you shop within the 1 mile radius and bring them back to your room to lightened your load! Although we didn't use this service, I thought that it is classy to offer such service to its guests. The only complaint I have is that the internet service did not work for us. Leia mais

Nice hotel, very friendly staff, neat room, and very good location--close to the heart of the city. The room was very small but classy. The only complain I have is that the air conditioning made loud noise, which I had to turn it off to be able to sleep.

Hotel Abri is probably the nicest hotel in this star range at Union Square that I've stayed at recently. I staydd here for five nights on business. The rooms are comfortable and quiet (if you get one facing the interior), the amenities are nice, and the staff is generally friendly. Two things bothered me, though: 1) there's no gym on-site; instead you […] have to go to their sister hotel to use one for free, and even then it closes at 10 pm. I used this hotel because of location, price, and the fact I needed a bed to sleep in for a night. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating to my needs. While the rooms are small, this was an obvious sign that this place used to be apartment living in its previous life. We had a one night stay in the Abri since we came up to the city to see a play. I wish we'd been able to stay longer. We really liked the Abri--a beautifully updated-on-the-inside old building. The bed was very comfortable, and everything looked modern and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. "Abri adds value if you are on a budget"
Location for this hotel is very good for access to downtown and Embarcadero. And the staff is excellent. I think this spot just needs a facelift. Things seem a little tired and I did have cold water on the last morning of my stay. Of greater concern is just two blocks up Ellis heading away from Market it gets pretty rough. Great location (steps to the Cable Car turnarounnd, a block or two to Union Square and Market St shops). Room is completely modern and up-to-date: Flat screen TV, super comfortable bed. Some of the reviews complain about small rooms (Hotel rooms in major cities often are, but who caes? This is San Francisco!), and it was smallish, but just fine. Ditto […] for the complaint about not enough room in the bathroom for cosmetics....if you can't fit it all on a glass shelf 5 inches wide and 30 inches long, you're wearing to much makeup. Hotel Abri was everything I expected and MORE! It is right off the BART line(San Fran's railway) and pleanty of shopping and meal choices. The lobby was beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. I was always greeted with a friendly smile. The room was beautiful and very clan. It is a bit on the small size, but it was more than enough room for […] two people. Everything was renovated to perfection. We got the room facing thestreet, and you did hear some noise, but thats city living. the mumbled sounds of the cars put me to sleep and the bed was so comfortable that I did not wake up once the nights i was there. The room was equipt with a large slat screen television with all possible hookups, including HDMI. An overall enjoyable experience and I will definitely stay at Hotel Abri again when I'm back in San Francisco Leia mais

At check-in they asked if I would like an internal room or one facing the street. They said that the rooms facing the street could be noisy. I stayed on a weekend and there was a bar across with a lot of street noise till late. They warned me, but it wasn't enough to keep me from sleeping. "Comfortable, not too expensive, but THIN WALLS"
Hotel was fine for an overnight stay. Easy location, etc. My only complaint is that the walls are extremely thin and you can definitely hear what's going on in the rooms next door and above you... Other than that, great deal for Union Square.

The hotel was priced reasonably due to hotels.com, but perhaps that is why the room was not as nice as on our prior stay. We were on the street side, unlike before, and the room was very noisy therefore. Also, there was no tub, shower only. With regard to cleanliness, we found a mass of hair not belonging to either of us in the bed sheets. Kind of yucky.
