Camino Real Hotel El Paso - El Paso

I chose this hotel for the price,but it was very nice hotel. I really enjoyed stay this old hotel. Location is in downtown,so it was not good for shopping but I liked this hotel. We will stay when we go to El Paso next time

Very dark rooms

I absolutely love this hotel and feel like i get the best out there with an awesome price. This is the only hotel I stay out while visiting El Paso.

The hotel staff was very courteous. The vicinity of the local pubs, clubs and downtown attractions was great. I stayed on the 13th floor which was scenic. The pool which was on the roof of the 10th floor was nice. The hotel bar, restaurant, basement parking; overall I would stay there each time I come to visit El Paso.

Rooms are dated. Furniture needs updating. Air condition works terrible. Room was very warm and swamp cooler doesn't work well. Hallways and elevators had little to no air flow. Extremely hot and muggy. It seemed like they shut off the air in the hallways to save money but the ac in the rooms is unacceptable. The location is good but I would not recommend […] this hotel at least until the ac gets updated. We were there to get ready for a wedding and getting ready was a nightmare. You could tell that this was once a beautiful hotel! The rooms were big & the original decor was stunning (a beautiful Tiffany's glass ceiling, BUT it needs a LOT of work! The water pressure was terrible. We either had no hot water or no cold water, so couldn't take a shower. Hotel is run down. It appears they are trying to fix things up a bit. Service was outstanding from front desk, bar tenders, to shuttle service! Those guys need a raise! Hotel is nice but dated. We had to switch rooms because of crying baby next door. Then we needed a refrigerator brought up to the room. The pool is nice. The construction around the hotel made getting into the parking deck a struggle.

Azulitos restaurant is part of the hotel. Food very expensive for quantity/quality/selection. Ate at 7:30 pm and waitress disappeared after we got our meals. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We bussed our own table, looked all over the restaurant and the kitchen and found no one! Found out later she was delivering room service (this hotel has […] 14 floors!) She was also our cashier. Fire alarm testing everyday. No hot water.

Hote's bathrooms are in serious need of renovation.

This hotel is a historic hotel in downtown El Paso. The proximity to the mexican border and surrounding neighborhood was a bit uncomfortable for my taste. The rooms are nice and clean, but you can tell this is an older hotel. With all that being said, the service was amazing. The bar staff were fantastic and very eager to please. The condition of the rooms for the price and the number of stars for the hotel leaves a lot to desire. Will not return.

The AC was not working very well.Our room was hot!

the hotel is well located in downtown El Paso adjacent to the revitalised theatre district. The staff were friendly and the location provided a spring board for visiting other local attractions. The historic bar with it's stained glass dome roof is stunning and only matched by the courtesy and friendliness of the bar staff.

VERY nice hotel for its age, location is perfect for night life and day life. Only thing wish I could just crack the windows open like 2" let some fresh air in had to leave the bathroom vent on, no big deal. Oh and free parking plz $6 a day. My stay at . the Camino Real was the worst in the world.. It took me 1 hour to check in as he attendant was too busy answering phone and attending to other things. Secondly he tells me there is no AC and (lie #1) I will send a fan up to your room. At 11 pm I call and say where is my fan and I will send one up right now (lie #2). The next day no AC and […] no hot water so I call again and the new attendant says I will send someone up right now, I tell him it is not my room as I am a Facilities Engineer and it has to do with programming or boiler problem, he say someone will be there shortly (lie #3). No one show up. The next morning I call to complain about no hot water and no AC and again lie #4) we will send someone up right away. AC finally gets fixed but room is smoking hot. I go down to aske for a fan for the third time and he says we have to get fans from other rooms so it may take a while (after 3 days). Finally it was time to check out but the AC never worked right, did get hot water but room was still smoking hot. I will never stay there again in my entire life. Leia mais

The hotel and staff were wonderful. the exercise room needs ventalation or fans. It was very hot when working out and there was weights missing which caused me to work lighter than I wanted. The hotel was wonderful. The restraunt meals were very good. I will stay there again when I return inthe fall

I really liked this hotel! I try to seek out places that reflect the city I am staying in, and this hotel fits the bill. They have done a wonderful job of restoration, it is centrally located, and the staff was friendly. The rooms are large and comfortable, but not comparable to a Westin if you are looking for contemporary style. This is vintage style! […] By all means visit the Dome Bar, if just to stare at the Tiffany glass ceiling. The only drawback is that there are not many restaurants in the immediate area. We stayed 2 nights, one on our way to California and another night on our way back. Both rooms were hot and never really cooled. The halls of the hotel were also very hot and muggy. The hotel lobby and exterior is great, but the actual rooms are horrible. They are very small, muggy, and old. Service was good though.

We were fortunate to secure a room at the historic Camino Real El Paso. The front desk, lobby and adjacent bar were beautiful. The Dome Bar alone is spectacular. The rooms were spacious and clean. We also had a nice view. We were only there one night but we will be sure to return.

Dirty pool atleast have nice foilage to sit out n relax instead of dead potted plants, shower was a dribble of water w holes in the ceiling of the shower..needs serious updating to compete w more modern hotels in the area. Embarressment to EL Paso. The staff was rude, the managers sat around and wathced as thier staff were slammed with customers. The A/C was not working as it was over 100* outside. The bathroom toilet leaked and water was all over the floor. The room stunk like mold. The TV's were at least 20 years old. Feces in the stair well...it stunk. The shower had […] only cold water. My stay was great untill the air con broke then it got to 85 degrees in my room and it wasn't even dark yet. Oh well I went to th front desk and they sent me to a room that did they were great! Thx to David at the front desk.

Texas weather is hot and El Paso is one of the hotter areas. Making matters worse, this hotel is old and has a VERY old AC unit. This entire hotel feels like a sauna and the room temperature is unbearable. Think of this before you book, regardless of price. My teenage daughter and I really liked the Camino Real hotel. I would put it in the same genre of hotels as the Menger in San Antonio or the Driskill in Austin- a grand, old classic. The decor in public areas is beautiful. The rooms are very quiet and comfortable. We attended an event at the Convention Center, a 2 minute walk from the hotel. One negative comment: When we checked into the hotel, the desk clerk handed us the keycard while stating our room number loud enough for all the men waiting to check in to hear. Sitting in the bar, sipping a martini, gazing upward at the Tiffany-style ceiling, I was struck by the history of the place we were sitting. Who else had graced this place -- everyday folk like me or those of greater note? The suite was spacious. A lovely marble-top dining table, adequate sofa and chair were in the entrance room. Checked in wednesday, had to change rooms because first room had a small window, could not look out. It was too hgh! felt like a prison. Second room was very very HOT. front desk told us the hotel was having problems wit the AC. Was fixed that day , and it was pleasant for the next 3 days. Hotel is close to everything. Breakfast is great.

Where do I start with what went wrong? They didnt have my room at 4pm due to it not being clean. I got a single just to shower and get ready as I had just gotten off work and in that room more then one out let did not work. I asked if I could get comped with a breakfast buffet ticket for in the morning they said no but they would give us cocktail tickets […] and never did. The facet in the tub that I was given to wait in for my room was completely gone so water was just shootin out of the wall. I asked about the ice machines and was told there was one on every floor. Not true I was on the 3rd floor and had to go to the 5th to get ice as the 3rd floor didnt have an ice machine and the one on the 4th floor was broken. After gettin ready I called and asked if there was a double ready and after an hour and a half there wasnt then I waited (as per asked) another hour and there still wasnt another room. By that time it was around 7pmish so I decided to head to dinner. The next morning I ordered room service and it never came. Leia mais

From the bellman to the the front desk the restaurant staff, the people at the el camino real hotel were helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is truely exceptional in its magnificent beaux arts archetecture, central location and beautiful suites. This is such a beautiful hotel that has in a nutshell been let go by ownership... poor fixtures in bathrooms, air-conditioning was poor as well. The parking lot has has not been cleaned in a while either. The iron was in very poor condition as well. My reservation was not right either. Beautiful hotel at heart of El Paso downtown revitalization. But needs some updating and TLC. Price is good, but I'd pay a bit more for some improvements.

I would recommend this hotel, but with some reservation. I was happy with the old histroic feel of the hotel, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. I would stay there again for the price, because it is walking distance to the downtown night life and a short driving distance from other local favorites, but I would go better prepared with […] my own hair dyer and iron, and I wouldn't have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the hotel. The iron kept spitting out water in the middle of ironing, and the hair dyer didn't work. When we called the front desk about the hair dyer it took two calls and 30 minutes to get someone to come look at it. Then, wouldn't you know, that the hair dyer worked when they checked it (because it had already cooled down), but when we started using it again it stopped working again with in a few minutes. At that point we had to do without since we just didn't have another 30 minutes or more for it to get fixed. Then when we checked in I asked about the breakfast buffet. They confirmed that it had already been paid for as part of the room fee and gave me the times for the buffet, 7am to 10am. The next morning when we went to have breakfast at 9 am the waitress, who looked very unhappy to be there, sat us down and offered us a menu. I infomed her that we had the buffet paid for and she said that the front desk had to have given you a coupon. I said "no they didn't give us a coupon when we check in and I specifically asked about the breakfast." When I asked if we had to get it right then and there or if we could eat first, she said we had to get the coupon first and made up get up and go to the front desk to get the coupon. Then after all of that when we came back there were no clean plates. We had to wait for them to put out clean plates, and to top it off the food was cold. Everything that was put out to eat was cold (beacon, sausage, eggs, chilaquiles, beans). The cheese was even hard. Also, the TV was small for the room and could not be Leia mais

This was a very nice hotel & great location. Unfortunately for us we were in a room where the sink leaked & the hot water didn't turn on. However, the gentleman who tried to fix the sink allowed me into another empty room for a shower, so that was acceptable but not ideal.

awful experience on the room service part, first i was left on hold for a good 25 minutes, second, I called back and they finally answered to tell me that the kitched was closed. This happened at around 10:30 p.m. when their advertising clearly states room service offered till midnight. Other than that very clean room.

Nice lobby area and location. Nice bar and restaurant in hotel. The swimming pool is very small, not very nice.

Beautiful room, bar and service and an incredible bargain! I'll be back every month.

Room was very small, but was okay for one night. I was expecting to see at least a small sofa, microwave and fridge.
