I just complain the hotel no include breakfast other is OK.

The hotel has a fine central location close to most everything in the center city. Reception is small and desk personnel do everything. They were always quick to offer assistance and were the best aspect of the hotel. This property is a bit plain for a Swissotel but the rooms were comfortable, well equipped and quiet which was surprising given the location. The restaurant and bar were nothing special but decent and fairly priced. All in all, I would return to this hotel if back in Amsterdam.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently. Scores very highly for location - 5 min walk from Central Station, close to shops, bars etc. & far enough away from red light district. Approx 15 walk to some of the main sights (Van Gogh museum, Ann Frank House etc.). Hotel room was a good size which I hear is not always the case in Amsterdam but room we got was at side of hotel & while nice & quiet, got very little natural light. Staff at reception courteous & helpful.

A great place to stay while in Amsterdam. Last time there they gave me a mini-suite on the top floor with high ceilings overlooking Dam Square. Couldn't have asked for better, definitely recommend.

great location! room very big for european standards, nice size bathroom as well. english speaking staff, very friendly. Only small issue was we asked then to make a dinner reservation for us which they did, but when we got to the restuarant they had no reservation. Turned out OK, we were able to sit right away anyway. Would definately recommend this hotel.

I got a basic 'discounted' room. On the first night, it was a cramped room facing a tiny interior ventilation space and brick walls - very claustrophobic. However I asked about changing rooms, and after that first night, for the same rate, they moved me to a corner room that was much larger and had views of a small pedestrian street, which was much better. It pays to ask for details about the room you will get. Also, as I suppose is common in Europe, I asked for and was supposed to get a 'king bed' room, but both the rooms I had were simply two twin beds pushed together - obviously this is not the same as a single king bed because you can fall through the division between the beds!

Everything about the hotel is great in terms of comfort, service, proximity to city center, fitness center, etc... if you prefer a quieter area, I would recommend hotels further from the center near the Rijks Museum, or outer canal area, etc...

We thoroughly enjoyed Swissotel Amsterdam. The hotel was modern, with a fantastic (firm) bed), great bathroom, and great room amenities. The fitness room was very nice with high quality, new cardio equipment. If you want to be in the middle of it all, there is no better hotel. Yes, we had an interior room, so we had no exterior noise. If you're going to be in Amsterdam for only a few days like we were, the location is fantastic. If you are going to be there longer, there are quieter neighborhoods that you may also want to consider. All in all, a great experience.

Considering how busy the location is on Dam Square, the hotel rooms are surprisingly quiet - until you realise they are in fact soundproof! The affordable rooms are tiny and the neighbouring buildings are only 6 feet from your window but as somewhere to lay your hat in the centre of town it is ideal. Very useful free "business centre" if you have forgotten your laptop too.

room was very nice, clean and very large. after hearing about how small every room is in europe, we expected the worst and were very pleased. the staff was helpful and friendly. our room overlooked Dam Square. if you dont want noise of street and trolleys, dont face the square and stay higher up. we were not bothered by it but could see how others would be. bed was so comfortable. great water pressure and FREE internet in the business center which was just large enough and you can print things in color for FREE there! try finding that in other places. we loved this hotel, great place to eat right next store in the AM, great restaurants and bars right across the street and the best money exchange place right next store. the location cant be beat unless you are looking to stay on a canal/canal view, this was a great place in the middle of it all!

well located right at dam square. quiet even though the neighborhood is lively. Don't bother with the restaurant.

The Swissotel is perfectly located for a tourist visiting Amsterdam. We were able to walk to nearly all the major sites and attractions. It is on the Damrak, which can be a bit seedy, so potential visitors should bear that in mind. Our rooms were very clean, though mine (a double) was very small. Some friends were upgraded for free to a suite, which was quite large and well-appointed.

The hotel accommodations were great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was in the heart of Amsterdam, near a lot of site.

I have stayed at many different hotels in Amsterdam in the past thirty years. From youth hostels to four star properties I must admit that the Swiss Hotel in one of the best. Excellent staff. I would splurge and get the executive suite for the added room. The only downside is that breakfast is not included.

nice thotle very central friendly staff

The hotel was convenient to the train station. A short, easy walk. The restaurant downstairs was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The free computer and internet was wonderful. The location for exploring Amsterdam's many neighborhoods was perfect. We'd stay there again.

I was initially given a smallish room with a window facing very noisy construction work outside, but I asked to be moved to another room and the staff was super helpful and led me on a tour of available rooms to pick the one I liked best. I chose a larger, light-filled one with great views and couldn't have been more satisfied. The Hotel's location is excellent as it is right next to Dam square and it's a 10-minute walk from the huge central train station. It was also very clean. The only improvement it needs is pa bit newer furniture or more stylish decor, but very good overall for the price

My wife and I chose this hotel as we had stayed in a Swisshotel in Berlin and had a marvellous stay there. This Amsterdam hotel is ideally situated but unfortunately the room was overlooked by close adjoining buildings and was very dark. We paid to have an upgrade but then found that early every morning we were woken up in this room by the street cleaners outside. The staff were excellent and helped to make up for the inconvience incurred.

On the way to the hotel, we saw several altercations within meters of the hotel. There was trash strewn all over the street and sidewalk and the area wreaked of urine. There were several dead bugs on our walls and ceiling and a very unpleasant odor in the room. We ordered room service because all of the restaurants close by 8pm. Our food was horrible. There is no way possible that this is a 4-star hotel.

great location..friendly staff. good size rooms for europe.

When we arrived, our room wasn't ready and needless to say after a 9 hour flight we were ready to go to our room to unwind. What was most aggravating was the construction noise outside our window in another part of the hotel. The noise was annoying because it started very early in the morning. When we complained and attempted to get another room we were told that had we asked for another room when we checked in we could have been moved. How were we to know that there would be noise? However upon further conservation with the front desk, it was apparent that they were aware of the noise before we checked in.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, always eager to accommodate my travel questions, restaurant reservations etc. The area was very tacky, much like NYC Times Square with touristy and garish restaurants/shops along Damrak street. I didn't realize the neighborhood and immediate surroundings would be so commercial as I only saw photos of the square itself with the beautiful palace and New Church. It's only a 10 minute walk to Central Station and generally a 10-20 minute walk to most areas so I would say the location is excellent for that, as well as tram stops on and around the corner. The room was neat, clean and contemporary. No signs of dirt or poor conditions. Excellent in-room Nespresso coffee included. 3 things bothered me: 1. our bathroom smelled awful as if the plumbing had a septic problem. I complained and the next day it smelled better but not completely so I bought an air freshener that helped. 2. I needed an extra cot for a couple nights and the overpriced daily charge seemed excessive. Breakfast was not included so why should a cot cause such an expense? 3. The last and main problem is the exorbitant amount they charge for an in-room internet connection. If you travel with a laptop, it is inconvenient to have to go to their 2nd floor business center to use their Windows computers for free. If you do, you can print for free which is nice but in this day and age, free in-room wireless internet should be included and not an extra charge, especially at their overpriced rate At least some hotels charge a couple euros for a couple hours and it can last over the course of your multi day stay. In the Swissotel, the unused time does not carry over to the next day! Since I need to check email daily, and want to relax in my room at the end of a busy day when doing so, this lack of free in-room internet was my biggest annoyance. I will only stay in hotels from now on that have free or minimal charges for their internet. If you just want a clean hotel, conv

The hotel is in a perfect location. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel and rooms are really clean. Rooms are a good size and very comfortable

This hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Amsterdam Centraal Station and also about 15 minutes from the Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, the Red Light District and virtually any other tourist attraction. It is close to the cool nine streets shopping area as well. I don't sleep much, but when I do it is pretty heavily, so it didn't bother me, but I had a room overlooking the square and it was fairly noisy with the trams going by and people wandering around. If those things might bother you at all, go for a room on at least the third floor or on the other side. Otherwise, it is a great place and I would totally recommend it.

Clean hotel in the heart of Amsterdam a ten-minute walk from the train station. The business center offers free Internet and printing. You have to use the key card to use most of the facilities, including the elevator. There are a number of restaurants on the same block as the hotel – and many are open late.

On the higher end of the price range, but great location, service and room. Very easy to get to and get around from the central location.

The Swissotel is in a great location. You can see the square from the window (if you have a street view). The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. I will most definitely stay there again when I go back.

The friendliest, most accomodating, helpful staff I think I have ever encountered in a hotel. Location is ideal for tourists although the immediate neighborhood is a little seedy. Tram service from outside the door to everywhere, but walking distance to key museums and sights. The Restaurant inthe department store across the street is excellent and good value. Free internet from a 24 hour business center.

The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. The location was excellent, close to train, tram, restaurants and many other attractions. We would definitely stay there again.

A little spendy for the backpacker set but a great location for a weekend getaway to Amsterdam. Right in the heart of Dam Plaza - walking distance to shopping and nightlife. Decent sized modern room for a European style hotel. Was there for 2 nights and the little extra cost made up for the savings on cabs.

This hotel is in a great location .. easy walk from the train station, museums and other sights.. right across from a tram stop ... My one complaint is that the wireless internet access is VERY expensive. ALthough the business center provides free web access which is fine for recreational web users or for getting a boarding pass, I was not able to use my own laptop because of the ridiculous fees associated with using a computer in my room which made it more difficult to conduct my business while staying at this hotel.

Good lcation in central Amsterdam, Small rooms as expected. Helphul staff and very clean. Go down the street for breakfast.

Loved the hotel. Very nice rooms. Very helpful staff. And its in a great location. Easy to get trams and theres plenty of nightlife around.

Room size good. upon arrival there was a customer upset with the service he had received from hotel staff. Upon arrival i was informed of complimentry items, upon check out. I was charged for complimenrty items. Alot of confused staff.

good clean hotel, friendly staff and great location within walking distance of central station on Dam Square. the hotel is a bit like a travel inn in the uk in style and does not have a late bar. BEWARE my partner accidently broke a small ikea side table and was charged 350 euros for a replacement. I understand that breakages must be paid for - but thought this was a bit much! check out is at 12.00 late checkout can be arranged for 20 euro per extra hour.
