Great value for the money!
"Hidden gem"
The Hotel Place St. Michel is an old-world, service oriented hotel located in a remarkably well-maintained, clean and fully functional Art-Deco building. The location is central, and easily reached from any part of the city including the airport within minutes. This place oozes charm and class. From the fully functional, bellhop-operated Otis elevator […] (I just had to ride it at least once despite my room being located on the second floor) to the friendly, well-mannered staff. While the adjacent restaurant (Restaurant St. Michel) has been a well known fine dining spot for at least 30 years, it maintains an elegant, yet low key atmosphere that appeals to us mere mortals :). The traveler may also find a number of other restaurants featuring several culinary styles from good old hamburgers and fries (Coral Gables Grill) to Pan-Asian, Italian and of course Latin fare within easy walking distance. Area clubs include anything from cool jazz to funk and rock-n-roll as well as authentic Spanish taverns ("Tablaos") Irish Pubs, and 70's and 80's style discotheques featuring vintage European disco and techno music as well as hot Latin music (This is Miami after all! ;D). All of these attractions are located within a ten-block radius, as is Coral Gables' world-famous "Miracle Mile." Well, if you haven't guessed it yet, I am already looking forward to my NEXT stay! Great place for a romantic getaway! Leia mais
"Good deal for the money"
Very old with lots of character.. not too bad for the price. Excellent location, but you have to pay for parking.
"Wonderful Surprise"
Beauty, charm and elegance that was unexpected when I first booked. Exquisite detail,as I love rich wood, tile antiques. Very much like a trip to Europe. Parking is awkward, however.
"Vintage"
This is a quaint hotel with all of its 1920s charm....the old style decor was great. Some updates are needed, particularly the bathroom. Overall, it was a nice quiet choice and served the purpose as a 'stopover' location.
"Lovely old hotel"
I read the reviews prior to booking a room at this hotel so I knew what to expect when I arrived. Yes, the hotel is old, but it is a wonderful reflection of days gone by. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location is fantastic. The hotel was clean and the rooms comfortable. I have already recommended to friends.

"Great Antique"
If you like antiques and old-style hotels this is the place for you. The bathroom is very modern and looks brand-new, and our room had a flat-screen TV, great AC and other modern amenities despite being in such an old place. Very quiet neighborhood although it is a quick and easy walk to all the restaurants and shops of the "Miracle Mile". The staff […] at the front desk were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Leia mais

"Very clean and comfortable hotel for the price"
Very nice hotel for the price. No restaurant but not a problem given the area. No exercise facility.

"Outstanding Hotel"
Great location, two blocks away from Miracle Mile. Beautifully decorated with lots of antiques, very nice comfortable room and friendly staff.
"Coolness"
It was totally unexpected , and such a different setting from traditional hotels. I was worried it was going to be old and busted, but to the contrary. I loved it and so did my girl. Only thing is they need to do some maintenance to the building , but it didn't effect me in anyway at all.
"I liked it"
Very small rooms but intimate feel and great location.
"Very Nice Hotel"
Would stay again at this hotel. The hotel was clean and the service was excellent.

"great room for the money"
The rooms were clean and the help were very nice.
"charming hotel"
Very charming hotel with very friendly helpful people. Bathroom had some maintenance issues.....very old shower head...peeling metal around sink. I have stayed several times and some of the bathrooms are completely updated. I will stay again.
"Wonderfully quaint boutique hotel"
We had the most delightful stay at the St. Michel. It's a very old 28-room hotel with beautiful art and antique furniture everywhere, including the common areas and inside the junior suite we booked. French windows all around the room opened out for fresh air in the morning. The room was clean and surprisingly up to date...flat screen TV, a/c and free […] wi-fi. The day manager is a wonderful older gentleman who called me by name as I entered the hotel. The rest of the staff was satisfactory, but could have been more gracious. Staff ran the elevator and delivered ice to our room upon request. It markets itself as a European style hotel, but this was better than what we found in Europe. Continental breakfast was nice, but the clerk handling it was extremely sour, seemingly annoyed that I asked her to heat up a muffin. Parking was great on the weekend, just get a $10 roll of quarters for the meter 9am to 10pm. Weekly, parking at the garage across the street is only $9 a night. Bedding was excellent, and there was lots to see and do in Coral Gables, with the Fairchild Garden and Biltmore Hotel only a few miles away. We plan to use the hotel every time we go to Miami from now on. Excellent. Leia mais
"Great room for money"
Quaint older but bequtiful hotel with antiques and great ambiance. Unfortunately, hotel restaraunt which had great reputation has been closed. Bar is still open.
"St Michel"
Blast from the past is right - especially when it comes to the beds - they squeaked and the mattress was so old there was a dip in the middle. I felt I was sleeping in dust mite central and not at all happy about that given I have allergies. There was no restaurant and I tried to call reception at midnight and no reply - only wonder what would have […] happened if I was in need of help if there was an emergency. There's old world charm and then places that are just not kept well. The fruit basket was a china basket with an apple and an orange - both of which had seen better days. Leia mais

"Very old fashion with lots of antiques"
This is a matter of style. Some people like this type of 40' style, but I'm not a fan at all. The hotel elevator requires special handling with a wood and metal giant stick and no buttons. The hotel ambiance is very dark in general, furnished with dated furniture and antiques all over the place, including very scary wall paintings. Again, this may be […] paradise for some, just that I'm not in that group. Leia mais
"NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS"
THE HOTEL WAS DIFFICULT TO LOCATE. AFTER FINALLY GETTING THERE ALITTLE DISAPOINTED IN THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE HOTEL. REALY COULD USE SOME PAINT AND A COULD CLEANING .

""Quaint" needs to be better defined"
This hotel is old, not quaint. The same is true of the bedding and pillows which have probably been in service since the hotel's opening. Other dirty things: 1. The TV remote had visible gunk on it (gross!) 2. The shower enclosure 3. The floor throughout (which thankfully was wood, so maybe fewer germs can survive there than on carpet, but please […] run a broom over the place now and again) Other complaints: Coming and going after dark required waiting for someone to unlock the front door. This isn't a bad neighborhood and I'm not a big fan of the bed and breakfast intimacy that this monitoring of my coming and going brought to this hotel. Good things: 1. Location 2. Maybe price at least compared to other hotels in the area, but I'd pay a bit more somewhere else next time since overall, even for the relatively low price, this place wasn't a good value. Leia mais
"Short Stay"
This hotel is in a good neiborhood and well maintained. Very unique atmosphere and well maintained and clean. I would not recomend this hotel for family stays but it is good for business trael or couples.

"Has character"
A very charming hotel. Staff with a sincere friendliness. Elevator is from the 30s and more fun than scary. Bed is not 'Heavenly'. Walking distance to good restaurants and shops. Short drive to Fairchild Botanical Gardens and Coco Walk.
"Charm galore"
Wonderful hotel. Very nice people managing. Quaint and comfortable.
"Quaint Place"
I really liked the hotel in general. It's almost like a rustic bed and breakfast place on it's in the Miami area. The vintage was elavator reminded me of some old apartment building up in NYC. I would definitely stay there again.
"lovely old hotel"
charming old hotel.....very much in European style.....friendly people. No food at the hotel and the bar is not open on weekends. However....a few blocks away there is plenty to choose from in the way of food and drink.
"Room good, Bed bad"
Very nice room, very nice ambiance, and good service. The only thing was the mattress needs to be replaced! It sank down in the middle. Great location in Coral Gables.

"Beautiful old hotel"
The hotel was a step back in time. The elevator is the old, old type and is a little inconvenient. You need to get a staff member to operate it. Going down the stairs is no problem but going up you have to call a staff member. The room was clean but I sure could have used a small desk for my laptop. They have rooms wifi in the rooms but no place, even […] a small table, to set up to do some computer work. Leia mais

"Good Location"
Hotel was convenient to airport and Univ. of Miami.
"Old school, in the good way"
This place was really nice. It's a couple blocks off Miracle Mile, but easy walking distance. It felt like stepping back into the '20s, except for the cold AC and flatscreen TV. The TV channel selection was a little slim, but otherwise it was a great place and definitely not just another cookie-cutter experience. The price was great, too.

"Charming Hotel"
I was pleasantly surprised with St. Michel. It is a charming boutique hotel with a lot of personality. It was a good value for the money and the location was great--all my meetings were nearby and walking distance. The best part is that just a street away there were more than 10 very appealing restaurants--many of them top-rated in Miami. Each room […] has its charm, individually decorated with antiques....the building has been restored. Rooms clean and comfortable--it is not a major chain hotel, with all the ammenities, but for the money, it was a nice experience and it has its character with the antiques and all. Leia mais

very nice old hotel remodeled nice large rooms
"Quaint hotel"
Good hotel if u are looking for a simple and clean room and bed in a quaint old european style building. the elevator is defenitely an experience. Only thing i was nervous about was the elevator inspection certificate seems to have expired in 2006.
"Excellent."
Great Location And Nice accommodations,
""worth the money""
My family enjoyed this hotel it has lots of charm , my son (5 years old) loved the vintage elevator. When we came back to Coral Gables, will stay here once again.
"Needs Improvement"
While priced far below the nearby Westin, the Hotel St. Michel should not be viewed as a comparable hotel. The rooms were clean and the service prompt but the hotel is old and shows significant signs of wear. The faux wood floor tiles need replacing and the bathroom was a motley collection of eccentric colorful fixtures. A small armoire took the place […] of a closet and the room layout made access a challenge. In the plus column, an iron and ironing board were provided immediately when requested and the flat-panel LCD television was a nice touch. Leia mais
"Adequate for business travelers"
I was in Coral Gables for a seminar that was held in a large beautiful hotel that was 3 blocks away. I missed the "discount" period, so looked for someplace close by. I knew I would only need the room at night, as I would be at the seminar from breakfast through dinner. The hotel was totally adequate for that, and it was priced right. The staff is wonderful. […] The room was clean... but definitely not large. The bed was adequate; basic hotel sheets/heavy blankets. The drawbacks for me, and the reasons I probably won't stay there again, are: 1)they only have continental breakfast.. no lunch... no dinner...I didn't think I would care.. but I ended up wishing there was food available somewhere in the hotel. 2) As a female, I felt uncomfortable walking the 3 blocks from the hotel to the seminar. It's in the opposite direction from the hustle and bustle of Miracle Mile and the restaurants/shopping. It's a quiet unpopulated area after about 5pm. Leia mais
