The hotel staff at the front desk were very accomodating and went out of their way to find a room that we could check in early, which really helped out with our plans that day. The only negative would be the boom-boom-boom noise we heard from the music either downstairs or next door, not sure which. Went on until 12:30a. That and the guests talking outside in the halls were the only downfalls, but that could happen anywhere. Overall, very pleased with our stay.

I enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton. The room was great except there was no microwave or minifridge. Also, parking was 12.00 per night with a re entry pass in a parking garage at the building next door. Overall, it was wonderful to see the harbor at night. The food cafeteria with places such as Outback and Jillians were within walking distance. Great Hotel.

Everyone we met on the staff was so friendly and helpful. We were traveling with our young grandchildren and had a lovely and restful time in this hotel with the perfect view of the harbor. It is so convenient to the waterfront and we never had to drive anywhere.

we got to our room at 1am and were ready for bed. when we got to our room there were already people in it. it took them 20 min to find us another room. the bar closed at like 12 so the lobby was full of loud drunk people who werent ready to go to bed. it was a long and aggrivating night.

We arrived late, being exhausted we headed straight to bed after checking in and being told that parking was not free. I pulled the covers back to lay down and much to my surprise the sheets were not clean, there were red marks and other stains/stuff on the sheets. I was angry but too tired to go anywhere else. I told management they apologized and stated it would be taken care of. My daughter and I left for several hours and when we returned, I pulled the covers back to see if the bed had been changed, no such luck! I called customer service and management (4 more times) when someone finally came and changed the bed. I checked out and I am totally disappointed and disgusted that this would be an issue at any hotel! Especially "the Sheraton! I would advise everyone to check your bed for cleanliness before lying down at the Sheraton.

My wife, infant daughter, and I had a nice stay at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside. Its location on the Elizabeth river was good, and our hotel room had a great view. There are some decent restaurants and a small but well-maintained park nearby, and we had excellent walks alongside the river. The hotel amenities were good, and our room was upgraded due to overbooking. The room was slightly smaller than I was expecting, but otherwise very nice. Norfolk itself seemed a bit empty, however, both of people and businesses. Overall, we had a good stay without any problems and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We arrived Friday, July 3rd at 7:00 pm to find that our room was not ready and that the hotel was overbooked. When we finally got into our room it was missing a trash can, soap and towels. After asking repeatedly, we finally got the towels the next morning. We used valet parking and when we went to get our car, they couldn't find it. In fact, they gave us someone else's keys. My husband finally walked around the valet lot and found our car with the doors unlocked and the windows down...in downtown Norfolk, VA. We learned the next morning that the reason they couldn't find the keys was they gave 2 customers the same number. The manager said she would comp our complete stay, valet service for the weekend and room service for breakfast the one morning. We are still waiting for the refund on the room 2 weeks later.

the rooms clean but no soup or shampoo. Also our camcorder disappeared last day and we filed a complian. This was our fist time we used hotel.com and was the fist time we miss an item in our stay.

The front desk staff was wonderful, the housekeeping was OK. Fitness room and pool area were clean and well staffed. The internet in the room was odd - you had to pay for each lap top used and the the 24 fee started over at 3PM, so if you logged on in the morning you would have to pay again for the evening. The internet in the lobby is free. If you stay here request a water view....it is amazing!

The location & views were excellent. They need to work on their housekeeping. None of the vending machines on any of the floors worked, couldn't get a bottle of soda or water - forced you to go to the bar. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Overall I'm very pleased with this hotel. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The restaurant was very good as was the wait staff. The only downfall is the fact that Waterside (the restaurant/shop attraction next door) is very run down and it made me sightly nervous to be there. Also, I think they need to make Internet service complimentary. Other than those few things, I would definitely stay again.

Excellent location directly on the waterfront and pedestrian waterfront walkway. Enjoyed the tables under an open sided canopy outside the restaurant in a nicely landscaped garden setting on the harbor for cocktails at sunset!

Be warned, if your checking in after 6pm and are greeted by a heavy set man, mid 30's standing 5' 8" with little to no hair I suggest you ask for someone else. He was rude, flippant and did not care about any of my concerns regarding my car being in their valet service. If you decide to valet park, ask for Anthony, he will give you the service you expect and is worth a considerate tip. Our fridge didn't work from day one and the safety latch on the door was 90% hanging off. The room service was always within 30 minutes, probably because it would have been free otherwise but dining in...now that is another story. It took 33 minutes to get bread on the table. Food is excellent so enjoy that.... Internet in the room is $10 per day, from 3pm to 3pm and is a per computer charge so if you bring two computers, you'll pay $20 to get each one online. There is only one Ethernet outlet so you'd need to alternate.

When traveling and staying at Pet Friendly Hotels we are usually disapointed. However the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel was fabulous for dog owners who want to stay in a very nice hotel. Staff was so friendly and accomodating. The best "pet friendly hotel I have ever stayed in!

The harbor view was indeed beautiful and the beds were very comfortable BUT!... there was a 1-inch gap above our room door, which meant we could hear everthing in the hallway, and meant we lacked our own privacy. The bathtub was dirty (something pink) and it didn't drain well during our shower. Also, bathroom was teeney! I didn't feel "pampered" when I had to ASK for things that should have been supplied to begin with: 1.) no door tag ("do not disturb") 2.)on our second day, the maids left only one washcloth and no hand towels (we actually needed one hand towel to shove in the big gap above our door) The vending areas had drinks only (no snack foods) The furniture was so big, there was no room to move around (the credenza much longer than needed) On our check-out day, I was exiting our room (my husband was still showering); one of the maids sees me and immediately inquires, "checking out?" I am not accustomed to having maids appear so obviously anxious to have us clear out, so they can hurry up and clean the room.

i stayed at this hotel for v-day and i booked online and reserved a king size waterview room. everything went as planned i went to the hotel with my girlfriend and deciede to try and check in early about 15 min early. the wait was over 2 hrs long so i said forget it we will go to diner we come back from diner about 630 pm there is now a 3 hr wait. the rooms were not ready in time for the guest to check in. when i waited all that time and finally got to check in. i was told that i could not have my room with a king sized bed instead i got 2 fulls and there was no proce difference. the only compensation was that they validated my valet parking that was over priced anyway at 22 dollars to park a car. down the steet at waterside its 5. then when i got into my room none of the lights were working had to wait 30 min for maint to come and check the fuses and everything.. then ordered room service and had the wrong food brought to us 3 times. but they did take care of the room service bill. i then proceeded to check out the next morning and waited 45 min to have my car brought to me. cause the valet wanted to talk to his buddies. and they didnt really have enough people working to handle the amount of people. which to me is a clear case of mismanagement. and i will not be staying anyplace that does not know how to prepare for a holiday and didnt do all that much to correct it. i felt very disatified.

I was there to attend a seminar and had read mixed reviews online. What I found was a clean, comfortable hotel with a very helpful staff!! The rooms do not block hall sounds well, so be aware it may be noisier than you would like depending upon how full the hotel is and how loud the other guests are.

We stayed there for one night only, on New Years Eve, and it was beautiful. We had a view of the Harbor at Waterside and it looked so nice lite up at night. The bed was so comofortable we didn't want to get up to check out.

pleasant hotel, very friendly and professional staff. clean room and public areas. I hadnt taken the car parking charge into consideration when I booked, it didnt appear to be mentioned, $12 and its a good walk away (although the door staff parked car park in the hotel grounds is available at $15 which I thought a bit rough as I hadnt been informed) but apart from that the hotel was fine.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel! The room was great. The staff was great. The only complaint I have is parking. I had to park in the hotel parking deck, $13.00 a day. Then I had to walk through another office building, then across on open roadway.

The hotel room was a corner room, which was great, we had a great view of the city and the staff was superb. However, there was a huge wet spot that covered a large area of the carpet near the television, to open the curtains/blinds we stepped in it inadvertently a few times, yuck! The sheets were dirty and had hair particles and an unidentifiable stain on it, they did give us new sheets (after two phone calls to the front desk) but we were too tired to change them and went to sleep on top of the top sheet instead. But it was only for one night, so for the cost it was worth it...

Upon arrival, we were informed that valet parking was over $20 a night, we could park in a nearby garage for $5 a night or we could park for free almost a mile away and walk back tothe hotel. Only stayed one night so we foot the bill for the valet. At about 1 in the morning the guest in the room next to us came in. We could almost hear their entire conversation, as at times you could also hear anyone talking in the hallway. These people were not talking loud, it was just that their was not much to buffer the sound or block it out. Overall, the hotel was nice and was sufficient for the purpose of our stay in the area.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times for business, but this was the first time for fun. The hotel was recently renovated, so everything is new and clean. The beds are very comfortable. My husband was thrilled with the huge flat screen TV. Also, it is located within a walking distance from the heart of downtown and right on the water. Great hotel!

My only problem with this hotel is the parking situation. We knew it would be a problem so we called the hotel itself to get the specific information on parking. They said it was included and surprise when we got there, it was not. We had to park in a public lot and pay every time we went in or out or we had the choice of valet parking for $22, a little pricy.

My husband left a bag at the hotel. We didn't realize it until we were returning our rental car. We phoned and spoke with a young lady at the desk. She located the bag and brought it to us at the airport on her way home from work. You just don't get that kind of service any more. I'd stay here again in a heart beat because of the service of one lady. The rest of the staff were also very friendly from the valet to the restaurant staff top notch.

This hotel is quite beautiful with the best waterfront location of any hotel. Weekend rates were very affordable for Norfolk. My only complaint was numerous requests to fix a very slow draining tub went unanswered. Other than that it is a very nice play to stay.

Labor Day weekend '08 - The hotel itself was well appointed, clean, the rooms were nice. You can walk a couple blocks to a very nice mall. The checkin for myself and lots of other people delayed for two hours past the check-in time. The hotel lobby looked like a bus station with 70+ people waiting around. The hotel staff did not handle the situation well at all. They were scared. Not sure what the hold up was, likely houskeeping with so many people need to check in. But that is a guess.
