Have made Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Station my new home in NYC. Stayed over seven nights, and everything but the connecting door was perfect. Since I stay in hotels hundred nights each year, I know that the receptionist should have told us about the connecting door. There's a safety aspect and of course very irritating to hear every breath from the […] other room.If your a big happy family, connecting doors is a plus.The new hall in the lobby looks great. Our visit was business/pleasure. Staff of the hotel professional; rooms modern, clean, comfortable. Great location. I expected nice but exceeded my expections.

The hotel itself was nice, conveniently located, and the staff members were all very polite. I happened to travel during a time when hot water maintenance was going on in the surrounding neighborhood so I did not have hot water for 2 out of 3 nights. I did not receive any notification that maintenance was scheduled and was irritated that I could not […] take a shower when I got back from work. Also, the front desk agent assigned me the wrong room type twice during check in which required that I carry my luggage back and forth the first night I arrived. Lastly the bathtub stopper was broken and the tub itself was in lousy condition. I probably wouldn't have taken a bath even if the stopper worked properly. To be honest I expected a bit more from the Hyatt hotel chain, but would likely stay there again despite the annoyances that I mentioned above. Ler mais

Great hotel, room was spacious and newly refurbished. The lobby is undergoing refurbishment but it didn't matter. Great location, next door to Grand Central Station so easy to catch the subway. Recommended hotel.

Aside from being in NY for the October nor'easter -- and some difficulties reaching the TP due to poor bathroom design -- we had a wonderful time and liked the hotel very much. Extremely comfy beds.

Staff was attentive, knowledgable and helpful.

Decent but little busy in check-in and out. Except that everything is fine. Spacious and clean decent as it is supposed to be.

Checked in with an 'upgrade'...the a slight larger room with no view. In fact, looking at the layout of this un-grand hotel, more than half of their rooms are each facing inside against each other with no view at all. Problem starts very shortly with the lousy house keeping...found out there is no shampoo and bath products even we checked into the […] room. Had to call the house keeping 3 times before they send the correct items to my room (and had to tip them for their mistakes as well). I kinda suspect that the previous person that check out didn't leave tip, so the house keeping don't bother to top up the tolietries. I did an experiment over the next 2 days... on 2nd day, I purposely didn't leave a tip (since they didn't do a good job when I check in anyway), the housekeeping did a very terrible job and didn't replcae any tolietries. On the 3rd day onwards, I left tips of a few dollars and they will then top up the tolietries, but the standard of cleaning is still very poor as I can still broken pieces of wood from their furniture left there for a few days. They say that a heary breakfast is a good way to start your day - but the breakfast there seems to spoil the rest of my day. First, very long queue for breakfast. They probably have less than 80 seats available for a hotel that 'boost' of more than one thousand rooms. Then the waiting staffs have bad attitude and still expect 15% tip for bring 2 plates of food and drinks that cost around 60 USD for breakfast!. To make it worse, they even charge us extra for items we didn't consume THRICE!!! The first 2 times I spot it and raised it the staff and front office to resolve. the 3rd charge , i only discover after I went back home and check my crdit card statment to see that they have charge me a second time for my prepaid breakfast. Just ridiculous that they overcharge me 3 times in 7 days! Coincidence that it is so careless so frequent ? Or just plain dishonesty? You decide... Also, there is rennovation noises thro Ler mais

I know that hoels need to be updated and that it is always a nuisance when they do it, but in this case the remodeling of the lobby is one of the worst I have seen: Noisy, dusty, uncomfortable, they should take better care when they do this. Nevertheless we like this hotel very much.

Great hotel, great location, would definately return!

Large business hotel with an excellent location in Manhattan, right next to the Grand Central Station and close to all sights and services. Rooms large enough and beds wide enough to house two adults and two children.

This was my 7th trip to New York (and 7th different hotel I have stayed in), and it was defnitely my favourite so far. The main selling point to me was that it has smoking rooms...not many hotels in NY have them (that are central) so I thought that because of this, we would be sacrificing other luxuries, eg small room with the view being a big wall […] or something. This was certainly not the case...... we were on a smoking floor (not sure if its the only smoking floor) and I could not get over the size of the room.....it was huge.....plenty of room to store all the shopping! It had been recently rennovated (we thought we would be given one of the older rooms, because of the whole smoking thing), brand new carpet, the most comfortable bed ever, a couch, a fridge, and modern bathroom. We also had a great view, had windows that opened, air con, and a machine that got rid of the smoke (we just turned it off going to bed as it was a bit noisy), so you wouldnt even know that people had smoked in it. The lobby was under renovation but it did not take away from the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It looked like it was nearly finished anyway (end of Oct). In relation to location, it couldnt be in a better spot. Its practically next door to Grand Central Station, and within walking distance to most attractions...times square, empire state, macys, central park, etc. We walked practically everywhere, although if you are feeling tired, its handy having the subway there, which includes a shuttle subway directly to times square and back (no stops in between) which runs until 5am daily. I would defnitely stay here in future (it would be my first preference) and would recommend to anyone I know that is heading to the Big Apple! Ler mais

The room was beautiful and comfortable. The location is wonderful!!! Some of the staff members were disgustingly rude, but everything else was great :)

Wow - to have a main subway terminal and all those great shops & food directly below the hotel is amazing. If the weather is bad, you can spend the entire day touring Grand Central station, amazing restaurants and shops without ever stepping outside! Hyatt had a great fitness facility, we used it every day. The housekeeping staff was superb. Renovation […] underway in main lobby but unless you plan on sleeping in the main lobby, who cares, right? I'd stay there again for sure. Oh - and NOT A BED BUG TO BE FOUND. YAY! Ler mais

beautiful place but no conforts. no coffee, no microwave, no fridg, no robes, and everything super expensive.

Stayed in a totally remodeled room. Beautiful with multiple hi-tech features. Best location in Manhattan.

This was just one of the best stays I've ever had at a hotel! Everyone was so so helpful and accommodating it made my whole trip! You guys will be getting my business again!

I found most of the workers to be unfriendly and actually more of being rude. The valet parking charged me $50 for additional hour which is unreasonably expensive by any measure. I will never stay in this hotel again.

The service and the quality of the hotel was great. The location was so convenient to the subway and accessible to the airport. My only issue was the construction work going on in the lobby in that it was incredibly loud. Luckily, I didn't need to spend a lot of time in this area during the day. Hopefully it will be finished soon. I was also impressed […] the staff didn't allow the noise to be agitating to them. It would've been for me and I don't think I could've provided the same level of customer service as they did. Kudos to them! Despite the fact the lobby is under renovation, everything about our stay went smoothly. Room was large, clean, quiet and comfortable. Most important, no signs of bedbugs. Worked out very well for us as we took the train in and out of Grand Central and the hotel is right next door. Did not even have to go outside and saved on cab fare. The hotel is very convenient to transportation and an easy walk to many sites in the city. The room we stayed in was newly renovated but was nothing particularly special. There is no coffee pot which would be nice while getting ready for a long, busy day. We miss the old hotel; its being renovated and seems to have lost its warmth-not people-wise but the overall environment/aesthetics. Seems too grey, cold, and sterile. The new floor in our redone room will not last a year-its already lost its brilliance. Bathrooms are a bit small and one of the shades is already broken. Light fixtures are hand-switched-ie. […] a wave of the hand seems to turn them on or off. We'll stay here again, but we miss the old Grand Hyatt! Ler mais

The Grand Hyatt in New York is currently undergoing renovations. The lobby was still a bit of a mess, but that didn't affect our enjoyment of the hotel itself. The front desk staff member we dealt with was polite and helpful, and was able to get us an early check-in. That allowed us to quickly recover from a continental red-eye flight and to go out […] and enjoy the sights that the city had to offer. We got one of the recently renovated rooms, and everything was clean, new, and in working order. Things that would have made our stay a bit more enjoyable would be stronger water pressure in the shower, and free wifi. The hotel's location was better than I'd expected. At first we had wanted to find a hotel either in Times Square or Mid-town West, but after staying near Grand Central in Mid-town East, I would strongly consider staying there again. It's within walking distance to Times Square, and is out of the way enough to be a little quieter at night. Access to Grand Central station is very good, a quick walk through a side door and through a shopping area known as Lexington Passage. Being Grand Central, the station offered several options for traveling in any direction, whether we were going north to Central Park and the museums, east to Queens and the airport, south to downtown and Brooklyn, or west to Times Square and all the other trains that run through that station. We checked in with easy, The Hotel Staff was just superb. They were very friendly, polite, neatly dress, knowledgable, and dependable. Their sincere goal was to make our visit as pleasurable as possible and this they have accomplish. We were very comfortable with our room. It's location, the appearance, the accessories, and the quitness. These help […] to make it a quite enjoyable getway from our day's activities on the outside. One of us was celebrating a birthday and a complimentary wine with fruits and chocolate was added to our visit. Location of hotel gave us access to major sightseeing attractions, theaters, shoppings, and dining with easy. I enjoyed my visit and the only regret was that the weekend came to an end. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and hope to stay there again on our next visit from Ireland to New York. Friendly and very helpfull staff. Beds very comfortable and location next to Grand Central and Times Square etc. Oved our stay. Thanks.

I stayed at this hotel around 8-9 years ago and re-booked it due to its fantastic location for getting around NY on foot. However, this time I was seriously disappointed. I know the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment, but it looked like a bomb site and the rooms are incredibly tired and tatty looking. I truly resented paying the high room rate price […] for just the location and none of comfort you would expect to go with it, and will not recommend staying here again the work is complete and the facilities have dramatically improved.
